Heads up: Another exclusive lenticular cover (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

Just thought I'd give a heads up to all you packaging and cover art nerds (like me). Target has an exclusive Lenticular cover for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It's a few bucks more than Best Buy and maybe some of the other stores. This is to avoid the crisis with Corpse Bride where nobody knew going in. At least we know this time, and knowing is half the battle....

Wow, nice cover. I was going to put off buying Goblet of Fire til I got the HD version and the add-on for 360, but I might have to pick up this version.

TomOpus 03-05-06 10:48 AM

The lenticular cover was mentioned in the bargains thread but it's nice to see what it looks like.

Reminds me of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel art.

Nice. But God ain't lenticular! ;)

Although he'd certainly sell more copies if he were.

And on the 8th day, God said "Pull my finger".

no need for a separate thread.

All lenticular covers...

Sure there is. A lot of people were pissed that they missed out on the Corpse Bride exclusive cover because it wasn't announced before the release. This thread is making an announcement for the people who might be interested in buying that release and would like to have the limited cover. In other words, it deserves it's own thread simply because it's an announcement, and not every member keeps up with that "definitive list" thread. That's like chastizing somebody for starting a thread saying, "this Criterion title is going out of print next month" instead of simply posting it in the ten thousand page long "recently discovered OOP titles" thread.

Thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate it because this was about to be The Corpse Bride part deux for me.

TheMovieman 03-05-06 03:47 PM

Looks good but it's not worth the extra $2/3 (to me at least)... I haven't tried recently, but Target doesn't price match, do they?

Eric D. 03-05-06 03:47 PM

What is with the posting police latley? Jeeze. I think this thread is great because it alerts people why may not have otherwise know about this. I know that I was pissed when I missed the Corpse Bride cover and would have been upset if I missed this one too. So I'm gald this thread exists.:)

this recent trend of lenticular covers is mildly fun, but a pain to follow. resurrected recently with Batman Begins a few months back. guess the studios got bored of the extraneous cardboard slipcover.

ShagMan 03-06-06 09:21 AM

Good, I'll make sure to avoid Target heh. I just hope the spine art will in some way look the same as the first two, and the 3rd one (3rd one backwards on the sheld matches the first two).

OldBoy 03-06-06 09:32 AM

question...if i mildly enjoyed the 1st one, didn't see the other two...will i like this one?

Seeing as how they've gotten better by leaps and bounds with every outing ... I'd say yes. (however you really should see the ones you missed.... you might be a wee bit lost on some things without...)

Dr. DVD 03-06-06 10:49 AM

Since that cover is an exclusive, I doubt Target will price match it.

Dr. DVD 03-06-06 11:35 AM

I noticed that's for the two-disc, so I mights pop by Target for this title.

reverie 03-06-06 12:14 PM

I've tried twice before... Target doesn't price match. :(

PerryD 03-06-06 01:07 PM

Target does price match themselves though, I think up to 90 days after purchase. This is very useful, as both DVDs and videogames drop in price quite unexpectedly.

Jay G. 03-06-06 05:21 PM

Target's price adjustment policy is to adjust the price to their current sale price for 14 days from the date of purchase. Their return policy is 90 days.

mdc3000 03-06-06 06:13 PM

In Canada, this is a FUTURE SHOP exclusive.

Weirdly enough I actually like the original cover better. Still...I love shiny things.

Well you get the normal cover on the inside. I just picked up my copy. They didn't have too many in my store. Maybe 8 of them on display.
