Why the #%&*#@ can't DVD manufacturers use the same packaging?

I just got Law and Order seasons 2, 3, and 14 in the mail from the Amazon deal. I already have Season One. EVERY package is different. Season 1 is in a slipcase and reminds me of X-Files packaging. Season 2 is similar to Season 1, but it is half as thick. Season 3 has these thin *** clear plastic cases that I have never seen before. And Season 14 has a plastic slipcover over the packagaing. And they are all different heights!!!

Four boxsets from the same company. Four different types of packaging. Can't they make them the same?

This reminds me alot of Alias...Each season is a bit different, and stands out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, it's highly annoying and a big reason why custom covers are so popular.

They did the same thing with Strangers with Candy. Each of the 3 seasons has a different package type...the biggest difference being the thrid season case which is a quarter of an inch taller and slimcases (or whatever they are called).
