No, it only has the catalog.

Did Scrubs Season 5 come with an insert for anyone? All I got was an advert for Kyle XY season 1.

From DVD Savant.. an insert essay is supposed to be included.

Packaging, if a little less inspired, is still consistent. The front cover offers, once again, a composite group photo of questionable worth. Inside, more standard and strange set-ups of J.D., Carla, Turk, and Elliot form the front and back covers of the six-sided Digipak. An episodes/extras list is found, the three discs share two sides (requiring two to overlap), and the spot for an insert holds only a booklet promoting other Disney TV shows on DVD. The final side offers more pictures, including snapshots of some of Season 5's guest stars.
The episodes/extra list line makes it sound to me that it is either printed on the digipak or perhaps one was included as an insert but that isn't specifically mentioned outside of the booklet promo. Is it printed on the digipack?

Even though it's old, I don't remember Azkaban being released in a slipcover. And secondly, it does include a chapter insert. I think if you're buying used DVDs, the stores tend to throw away the inserts.

- Idiocracy (20th Century Fox).. ?
Yes -- all of the Fox discs that are dual-sided (either those that have both p/s and widescreen on the same disc or that one side has the extras) get a chapter insert. Additionally, the insert also says what extras are on what side of the disc.

Mine does also so guess that means nothing else.

Oddly, that scan lists it as rated R. I wonder if that is entirely an error or if there is more to it like the film was at one time rated R? I know that the aspect ratio was modified for the DVD releases but IMDb and MPAA do list it as PG also.

- Pink Panther, The (2006) (Sony).. yes (ads)
Just ads or insert also?

Yeah, I imagine most of my unknown list are ones that never came with inserts. Figure it couldn't hurt to ask in case anyone knows for sure and is willing to check as there are always exceptions.

Yeah, very hit or miss. Blockbuster never does due to their modified cases. Hollywood is iffy but sometimes they do. Same at Hollywood, Gamestop, etc.

I was hoping that one didn't as mine had the ad included. Figured if the ad was there then odds were the insert would have been also if it included one.

Thank you both kindly for the info. Much appreciated (I was giving up on this thread)..

Anybody know if Halloween II comes with an insert?

All of these should have chapter inserts... HBO still produces them for their original movies (like Lackwanna Blues) and the copy of Vera Drake I viewed had a chapter insert (I'm not sure about The Sea Inside but I think that had a chapter insert before New Line cut out the chapter inserts entirely in late 2005/early 2006). It's just that you'll have to look carefully because older copies of New Line titles have a better chance of having a chapter insert and the newer copies may not have one. So be wary.

Anybody know if Halloween II comes with an insert?
Universal's current printing of it doesn't (I ordered a copy from Amazon last year and mine didn't come with an insert and nor did it have a proof-of-purchase tab on the back cover), although old copies circa 2000 will probably have them.

Now here's my question: does anyone know if the retail version of Robin Hood: Men in Tights comes with a chapter insert? I think it does, but I need to know for sure from someone who has the standalone copy.

so it goes 09-20-07 11:18 PM

Any one know if Bringing out the Dead originally came with an insert? I know the version with the new cover doesn't, and it seems a lot of Scorcese titles never had inserts, so I'm assuming not. Would just like to know for sure though.

Yep, just went and found it. Cover art (?) on front and scene selections on back. I bought mine pretty much when it was originally released.

Thank you. I'll add that to my list of inserts to try to track down. I just bought it and switched out the ugly new cover for the old from a video store.

Sorry that it's way overdue, I thought I could clear this up:

If you bought the single-disc edition of Walk the Line new (or used), it only came with a promotional insert for a re-release of Johnny Cash's greatest hits on CD... no chapter insert. However, the 2-disc SE of Walk the Line does have a chapter insert.

Corpse Bride is a Warners release in an Amaray case, so nope it doesn't have an insert.

LoPan5705 09-27-07 03:37 PM

Sometimes you can tell if a dvd has the insert included. Hold the dvd by the sides and gently shake it back and forth and sometimes you can hear the insert move in the case. Also the dvd case will feel a tad heavier with an insert than w/out. I buy just about all of my dvds Used and have used this method when choosing a dvd that I know once included an insert. Most recently I have picked up Legend of Bagger Vance, Spy Game, Rain Man, and Harts War all with their inserts intact. I think those titles were later repackaged w/out the insert.

I think you can tell a difference by picking up a dvd case that contains one of the 2-3 page Universal inserts inside to one that doesn't have one.

Impressive, I wish I could do that. You were born too early.

If you lived in the 30th century you could join the Legion of Substitute Superheroes and be dubbed, Scant Weight Difference Lad.

I have official confirmation that these titles have chapter inserts:

Little Miss Sunshine
28 Weeks Later
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Hi guys, does anyone know if the special edition of Blue Velvet or the 2 Disk version of The Lost boys came with inserts? Thanks.

I can do this too. I can also tell by pressing down on the case. If it caves in pretty easily, I know there is no insert in it. Of course, this only works on cheaper cases.

Blue Velvet originally came with both a slipcover and an insert, neither is included on new printings. Although the insert is still listed as a special feature on the back.

The 2 disc Lost Boys did not come with an insert.

I have yet to have a chance to do my own research on the following (recent Movie Gallery store closing buys) but I was wondering if anyone happened to know any of them that definitely have/didn't have inserts. A lot of marginal, at best, little films so probably not many viewers of this thread we have them though.

As always, thank you kindly to everyone that checks. Appreciated.

L4yer Cake
NO INSERTS for Before Sunset and Broken Flowers.

Layer Cake had a single-page insert. On the front is the film's logo with a collage of pics of the cast and a proof-of-purchase in the right corner and on the other side is an ad for other DVD titles.
