NICE WORK! I look forward to the others in the box set(s). Where did you find the fonts (and what are the names?) I'm wanting to make a cover for my Amazing Colossal Man and my KTMA's that are now safely on purple platters...

The fonts are all commercial fonts (save one). I used whatthefont to identify them, then I used a site I found that lists freeware versions of commercial fonts with let me obtain some of the fonts, well actually one.
The white font is Romic, the yellow font is Amelie, the black font is Mirisch and the orange font is Motter Corpus.
Mirisch was the freeware version of Estro. The others are commercial fonts.
Since I have 54 or so episodes from DAP I was planning on making some combination covers also

duz..

some (more) questions...

any idea when DVD Coverart will let your MST3K's loose?
finished the rest in the set(s) yet?

wouldn't happen to have a Joel and Mike "blank" available for those of us converting our old tapes and whatnot to DVD-R???

duz,

What was the font site that you mentioned (not the whatthefont one)? Email it to me if you wish.

Thanks!

Londo: Since they seem to always a hundred covers in their queue I'm assuming it would take atleast a week for them to get to mine. I'm working on Cave Dwellers, Bloodlust and Pod People at the moment. I do have a blank for Joel but since it contains commercial fonts it would be of little use to anyone that doesn't own those fonts. I do plan on making covers for the entire 10 seasons once I get something to take screen caps of divx as that is what most of my eps are in.

Londo, I'm leaving in a few hours for a nice mini vacation. When I get back thursday I'll upload the blank to my site and put a link here.

Heres the Joel template. When I get some free time I'll finish the Mike template.

Cave Dwellers from box set #2.
I'll be uploading to DVDCoverArt later in the day.
I'll also be updating Catalina Caper as I've made a few improvements.
Up next is Bloodlust (hopefully).

Update on my MST3k covers

1) I have an updated version of Catalina Caper that I will upload sometime, its mainly changing some sizes etc

2) I did Manos: Hands of Fate since it was requested twice, its a combination of a scan and my templete. The .psd for it is 45M the .jpg is 4M. Isn't compression great?

3) I'm preparing a cover for the first season of MST3k as the DAPCentral release of those episodes fits on two dvds and since I have a box of single width 2 disc cases I figured I'd make a cover for it. Since I doubt DVDCoverArt would allow it I'll have to host it myself when its done which will probably be at the same time as the next cover.

4) My cable modem was finally replaced, its why Cave Dwellers never went up when I finished it

5) When I remember what 5 was I'll edit the message to include it

Its just a conversion.

And if you're wondering why I havn't done any more covers I have done one more (they're on my site) but I'm just too busy to go hunting for quotes and a usable screen shot in any timely fashion. If you want to supply those then let me know.

Say, would you by any chance be able to do some covers for the DAP-DVD releases that have come out the last few months? Some covers for those to match the retails discs would be super. DAP even has some classic quotes for each episode on the episode pages (I think).

I did the Diabolik one, its on their server, the Warrior of the Lost World one is almost done. I'm just too busy to get them done in any timely fashion and whenever I ask for help people say they'll help but never do so the slow pace goes on.

With the death of dvdtalk, I needed somewhere else to host my mst3k covers. Well, my own host upgraded me to 100G of traffic so I wrote a site to host them myself.
I've also got a few from some other folks that did covers and am willing to host anyone else's mst3k covers no matter the style.
I've got seven covers up so far with 5 being mine. I've got some more to put up in a day or two, once I get them from the author.

Those look pretty good, but the only I need is something for the Shorts Vol 3 disc that came with the Essentials if you ordered from the club. Anyone going to take a stab at one?

My seventh MST3k cover, Warrior of the Lost World. Another DAP-DVD cover.

Clicky for download page

www.dapcentral.org for the episode
Remember, if you made your own mst3k covers, I'll host them!

I've got quite a few episodes I want to make covers for that haven't been made yet, but the thing holding me up is the fonts. I haven't been able to find them free. Anybody care to share? Let me know.

I've been told a font called Asimov, I believe, is a good, free substitute for the yellow font. I really should get around to finding some good, free substitute fonts.

Hey duz, enjoying these covers. A request though - do you plan to add disc label images in the future? I'm sure I'm not the only one that has printable DVD's or uses disc labels.

(Or if you know of somebody that's already doing these can you point me in their direction? Thanks in advance.)
