What is meant by vista for Japanese DVDs?
 
very often i see that specifications for Japanese DVDs stated for the aspect ratio, it is vista.

what does vista means?

Vista (actually, "bisuta") refers to VistaVision size, the term given by the Japanese to all non-scope widescreen movies (1.85:1, 1.66:1, etc.)

...and another thing
 
...and squeeze (or "sukuizu") means the DVD is anamorphically squeezed for widescreen TVs -- in other words, 16:9 enhanced.

The Japanese abbreviations are:

TV = 4:3
Vista = 1.85:1
Cinemascope = 2.35:1
