Question about SE releases of the Batman movies
I recently read a list of upcoming Warner Brothers special editions for '04, '05 and beyond at Digital Bits. It was a compiled list of everything mentioned in a semi-recent chat. Batman was on this list but I didn't see Returns or Forever.
After this chat occurred, I read a transcript of it (that said list was compiled from) and I could've sworn that the good sequels were mentioned as being worked on for SE release.
After all of my yammering, my question is this: Are or will there be special editions of Batman Returns and Batman Forever?
I could care less if Batman & Robin gets a SE (would love to see it fall off the face of the Earth to be honest) but if Batman is getting a SE, why wouldn't the good sequels get new releases as well?
On a sidenote, has anyone heard anything about what will be on the Batman SE? I imagine Burton commentary but anything else equally worthwhile?

My guess is they'll make sure and have the first one done in time for the new movie's theatrical release, but they may not have a chance to do a full-out special edition for all of 'em until the video release of the new one.
I'd definitely buy the first two, and I'd consider an 'Alien' style box at a decent price, depending on the extras.

Yuck - only the Burton films are worth a salt. After Returns the franchise was down the toilet thanks to Joel Schumacher.
I hope the SEs when eventually released will be sold separetly.
BTW SE's of the Burton films have been talked about since the launch of DVD. Come on WARNER - get off your butts!

I'm pretty sure WB will be releasing an SE of all the Batman films once Batman Begins comes out in theaters.

Tell you what, Warner Bros.: I'll buy a box set of the Batman films (including the loathesome Schumacher films) if you make an agreement with Fox for them to release the 1966 series on DVD.
Otherwise, no deal.

They should put out a box set of the first film that includes the Prince 'Batman' Cd. I used to listen to that thing like crazy when i was like 11. I thought I was so tough. How ironic...

Bring on a Batman SE but I dont care about the rest.
Batman was great, but I didnt think much of Batman Returns.
Batman Forever was fun just for the Jim Carrey performance but Batman and Robin!!! Oh Dear God what were they thinking.

Exactly, as far as I am concerned, Batman forever and Batman and Robin were never made.

Hadn't thought of the good sequels getting SE treatment when Batman Begins hits video. That may be why WB didn't mention them with Batman.
Like a previous poster mentioned, I hope they (if the others go the SE route mind you) are released individually. I'm a big Batman fan but I would never own Batman & Robin on DVD; unless the movies were only released in a box set.
With Batman being confirmed for May of next year (right before the confirmed June release of Batman Begins) a box set only scenario thankfully doesn't appear too likely.
Although I imagine a Batman & Robin DVD would make for a good coaster. Or frisbee. Or clay pigeon substitute.
