Valuble dvd's

Im just wondering what dvds are the most valuable/rarest. Thanks

caiman 07-19-04 10:43 PM

Salo Criterion. You're welcome.

kylierobbie 07-19-04 10:48 PM

I know all of the OOP criterions are worht a lot, but are there any non criterions worth a lot or rare. Thanks.

flyboy 07-19-04 10:57 PM

Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring are cheap MGM disc's that now sell for well over 100.00 a pop.

natevines 07-19-04 11:01 PM

Salo Criterion is correct, it is the most valuable DVD.
Of my collection, I highly value my Battle Royale tin.

TomOpus 07-19-04 11:06 PM

For a non-Criterion, I'd say Rabid Dogs is pretty valuable. Gut could explain better than myself :)

Tony Dvdfan 07-19-04 11:13 PM

I have a Tool dvd set that i've seen on ebay go for $70+. I have seen the Karate Kid dvd fetch over $50, Splash before the rerelease used to go for $90 or so.
There is a Static X dvd that i've seen go over $100 before.

Oh, and of course La Femme Nakita is apparently worth $600 to some people :hscratch:

if I knew that Tool DVD/CD set was going for so much, I wouldn't have traded mine in. :(

I liked when people were paying $150+ for the OOP collector's edition of Scarface...as though Universal would never release it ever again.

I remember when they first announced the improved release....i sold my CE for $92! :D

Another valuable one is the Jazz Singer (Neil Diamond).

Shroud 07-20-04 01:23 AM

We can't forget Ed Wood SE dvd, although it looks like Disney is attemping another release, with two previous released failed, i wouldn't hold my breath.

Good Burger: Criterion Collection. ;)

Don't forget the international cut of Swamp Thing.

Thank a angry mom for making some collector picking this up quickly as soon it was going OOP.

How much is that DvD worth now? Ive seen the prices go as little $9 to as high as $40.

JustInsane 07-20-04 09:24 AM

The valuable DVDs are the ones you enjoy watching the most.

I suppose the rarest DVDs therefore are those that have been cooked the least.

Lastdaysofrain 07-20-04 09:49 AM

Apparently the DVD of "Liquid Sky" goes for quite a bit. Glad I picked it up when it came out.

How much is Rabid Dogs going for? I have a copy and didn't even know it was rare.

I picked it up for $90 shipped from half.com. every eBay auction I watched had it ending over $110. There was one person selling it on the board her efor $80 I believe but that was a while ago. Definitely you should get $90+ for it if you wanted to sell, though.

david00 07-20-04 10:57 AM

sports illustrated swimsuit collection 1995-1999 has gone for $70-100 on ebay.

How many times have you tried... and failed that joke?

Anyway, I have both that Static-X dvd and Tool Salival dvd/cd pack Tony Dvdfan was talking about.
I bought the Static-X for 50 dollars and the Tool for retail price at the time (before they became as big as they are now).

Is this a different version then?

I wouldn't think it could be worth more than 6-7 bucks since it is notorious for it horrid transfer.

I had a copy of the first Collector's Edition, that I had paid around 15 bucks for it and never sold it, so when the Deluxe set came out, I gave it to a friend.

ThatGuamGuy 07-20-04 12:19 PM

nobody's gonna mention the recalled 'Little Shop of Horrors' disc?

Then let me be the first to say it: 'Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie'.

Oh, and the full series of 'Eerie, Indiana' had such a limited release and is in such a state of limbo that the occassional real ones which do pop up sell for a ridiculous amount.
