Halloween II Special Edition ever?
I know this has been discussed before (and maybe to death...) but does anyone have any new news on a Halloween II Special Edition? I'd love to see one with the regular version and maybe branching to all the tv scenes. I'd also like the alternate ending and deleted scenes. Rick Rosenthol could do a commentary for sure and they could at least do a nice featurette. It would also be nice if they redid the transfer, which isn't that bad now, and gave it DTS. Universal is normally a re-release whore, so why not do one that people want?!?!

And yet another question...
Why the bloody hell do they charge so much for the one that's out now?? I agree with you, the SE Treatment is overdue |

I got my Universal release for $10, and that's how much I see it everywhere...
But it does have great image quality, surprising for a film of this nature. |
Yeah, I just got the Universal edition for 9.99 at CC. If you still see it marked $25 anywhere, check with the register because it's a lot cheaper now. A little while ago best buy had copies that were marked 19.99.

The Universal edition hasn't been $25 for over a year. They dropped the price to $15 shortly after release. It's readily available at just about any retailer for $9 and change. |

I wish i could find part 4 or 5 for less than $10. I've yet to see them anywhere for less than $15

The halloween 2 pal disc has a really good commentary by a couple of horror experts/film critics. they also do a commentary for part 3 and the dead zone.

Yes, this movie not only needs an SE, but better anamorphic transfer. Halloween I and II are the only DVDs I want, because as far as I'm concerned, Michael died in Halloween II when Loomis blew him up. I've held off on buying the Halloween II DVD in the hopes a new DVD with a better transfer comes out.

I tend to disagree on the franchise dying after Part II.
If anything, the franchise died once Donald Pleasence passed on. I picked up the Goodtimes release at Best Buy back in the day when they had it for $5.99 with no regrets, but would double dip if an SE came along. |
I would love to see an SE of this as well, or at very least a release of the tv version. I actually had this on tape back in the 80s (taped from WGN) and when I got the regular R-version without commericals I taped over it. I was unaware at the time it was a different cut, other than the expected violence/nudity edits. When I finally got around to watching the regular version I didn't notice until I got to the ending and

The TV Version has aired on AMC the last two Octobers in a row. You might want to check the station in September or so to see if they do it again this year...

would definately love a better version than whats out now. yea, for a while the barebones universal was pretty pricey, and I just recently (like an above poster mentioned) saw that Circuit City had it for 9.99.

I got my Universal edition at BestBuy for only 5.99 about a year ago. I think they had it mismarked with the Good Times edition.
