why is 50 out now and elf not until november when elf was released in cinemas before 50 i dont get it

"Elf" is a Christmas movie. They did the same thing with "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". Purely a marketing strategy.

Yeah, it makes so much since to release Christmas themed movie during the holiday season I was socked Bad Santa was released in July
