Hmmm...upon further inspection, I think those are still not the final designs for the covers. Or at least the back sides. It says Kersh is in all the commentaries. Isn't he only in Empire? It'd be funny if he was in Jedi because I know he's not too fond of Marquand's job.

I wish I could say those covers are growing on me, but they just don't sit right, especially the pic of Luke on ANH.
There's just so many good posters and other artwork out there for these movies, it seems a shame to have something that seems so rushed to me.

But yeah, I'm not sure about that listing of Kershner on all the commentaries. I mean what would he be able to contribute to IV and VI? He may have directed V, but I think it's pretty obvious George Lucas had full creative control even over that one.

who cares? Looks like the region one releases.
Shouldn't this be on the International DVD board?

Which is what's on the disc themselves. However, the DVD art and the back coverart on those scans looks fantastic. I make take the front coverart above and combine it with the rear coverart from the DVDs.

They look a lot better enlarged for some reason. Interesting how there is no translation for 'Anamorphic Widescreen'.
The back to the Empire cover looks a lot like the custom cover I did for my retro "Original Trilogy" covers (which I've never posted anywhere). Cool stuff.

Anybody watch DVDFile's comparison of the DVD trailer to the new French DVD trailer? Supposedly, you can see evidence of CGI enhancements, but I didn't catch aything...

Why not just tell us what they are? Why all the intrigue?
I really didn't notice anything either. What I did see:
On the U.S. version, there is no laser fire coming from Leia's gun when she is shooting down the hall in the Death Star. This is a strange one, that I can't explain... maybe just a mistake on the U.S. trailer.
The brief shot of the Wampa (new to the SE) looks different on the French version. It's hard to tell, but I've freeze-framed it and it does not look like the same scene.

Well, while still downloading the trailer, one scene that I see that has been enhanced, well digitally added to, is the scene where Han is running through the Death Star and runs into the horde of stormtroopers. I beleive the amount of stormtroopers is the same as what appeared in the SE, but the background is new. In fact, I think the entire shot has be recomposited, similar to what Lucas as done with THX-1138.
Stay tuned...for more revelations.
EDIT: After further review and memory recollection, I think the amount of stormtroopers have indeed been increased in that scene.

The most noticable is the digital extension of the Death Star Corridor (Spelling?) instead of there being white at the end, it now appears to go into infinity.
Also there was some talk of the lightsabers in ANH looking better, but I don't see a noticable difference.
From the DVD menus it looks like that Death Star matte painting is still the same. I always though those could've looked better. Or were they touched up for the SE's? Can't remember...

Artman -- Ah, good catch with the corridor. It's hard to see some of these things, since the aspect ratio of the two trailers is different.
Mike Lowrey -- I'm not seeing this new background you're talking about. Can you be more specific about the differences?

Just to open another can of worms - I'm pretty sure that all of the menus posted used to be the EXACT backgrounds for each movie's page on the Official starwars.com website. They no longer use these pictures so I can't verify. Is there anyone else out there who can corroborate? I specifically remember the Empire menu image and the New Hope image - the Jedi one seems familiar too, but I'm not as certain. Additionally, the web pages were animated - the ESB one had Luke hanging from the weather vane with the Millenium Falcon flying up from below.
On one hand - maybe it shows that they are official Lucasfilm created images, but on the other hand - maybe they were grabbed off the site and used to make fake menus.
Just throwing that out there for consumption...
Drebin!
