Do you watch your DVD more than once?
Is there something wrong with me???My Girlfriend thinks so, I have a sizable collection of movies and I watch them more than once, sometime multiple times, on my days off if I buy something I really like, Ill watch it twice that day!!!
Wait a minute, that does sound wierd! |
And some people shower twice a day... brush their teeth twice a day... drive twice a day...
|
i watched the whole LOTR trilogy again this weekend for like the 10th time... nothing wrong with repeat viewings. If you were going to watch it more than once then why buy em? Just rent em. would be cheaper. ;)

I dont see anything wrong with that...i watched Secret Window twice this week. And i shower twice a day too! :D
|
If I didn't I would just rent, and not own. Though I usually watch things spread out, it's rare that I'll watch one film twice the same day- I've done it less than a handful of times with the 2nd viewing being with commentary.
|
yup.
|
DVD's more than once? sometimes I will if there's a compelling reason. There's a thread in DVD talk somewhere about "most rewatchable DVD's" or something like that.
re: good movies. I sat through Star Wars in the theatre 5 hrs. watching it again back to back, but I was a kid so what did I know? If it's a good movie, I dunno, maybe I'll notice something I didn't see the first time? Edit: I decline to reveal my personal hygiene habits at this time. |
isn't that the whole purpose of collecting movies that you like?
so you can watch it agin and again, and again and agian? & that's the great thing about DVD (or even LD too), i've been watching my john carpenter's The THING for hundreds of time... with VHS i'd be loosing the whole "experience" quality :) |
I only have a handfull of movies (I'm a picky bastard) so yes, I watch them more than once, why? Because that's the whole damn point of spending your hard earned cash on something, to USE it.
|
I get in weird movie moods where I'll be in the mood for a movie or two and watch only those two the whole week. This week it was Fight Club and The Transporter. The Transporter isn't even that good of a movie but for some reason I was in the mood for it this week. I watched them both about 4 times each this week probably :) That is why I collect DVDs, so I can watch them as many times as I want.
|
I usually notice different aspects of a film after repeated viewings. Like most of us, I have a handfull of movies I've seen many, many times, to the point of quoting it and annoying people.
|
Why would buy a movie and only watch it once?
|
My Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Simpsons, Sex and the City, and My So Called life DVD have been watched more times than all my other DVD's Put together.
|
I won't buy a DVD I'll only watch once or twice -- it has to merit repeat viewings, else it winds up on the trading block.
I've watched a few of the same movies twice in a day, but only if I really fall head over heels for it the on first viewing (City of God was the most recent). |
I have so many and I keep on buying new ones so I never get a chance to watch them twice.
It may be hard to believe but I only watch one dvd a week and two netflix movies. |
I watch all of my movies more than once. Otherwise what was the point in buying them. I end up getting rid of the movies I don't watch more than once.
|
I watch all mine more then once also... Sometimes I watch one movie all week. It's happened recently with Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas & Kill Bill Vol. 1. Bill I just watched everyday for about a week after it was released. And Fear & Loathing, I have the Criterion so I watched the movie all the way through, then all the commentary tracks, then all the extras and then I went back and watched the movie a few more times... I just got really hooked on it that week.
So to sum up... You're not alone. |
Yes, but I never know when exactly. I only buy movies I know I'll enjoy on a repeat viewing basis. And I buy most my movies around $10-$15 range. So, I feel justified if I do watch it twice without renting. Plus, I like commentaries.
If I have friends over they can choose a movie from a collection that I know I'll enjoy watching with them no matter what. But I haven't watched a movie twice in the same day. Actually, I have quite a few unwatched DVDs. Just waiting for the right mood I guess. |
Do you watch your DVD more than once |
Being able to watch your DVD more than once is the very point of 'owning' that DVD, right?! :)
|
well of course. if not...I'd just be *gulp*...renting. my library is for re-watching anytime I feel like it. if I dont really care for a title, why buy it and add it to the collection? I'm all for having something based on historical reasons....but still....it hopefully will be watched and loved again and again. unless yer planning on dying next week.
|
Of Course.. like the guy who posted this originally if I have a free day and I get a new dvd I really enjoy ill watch it twice.

Hercules... ask your girlfriend if she'd like sex twice a day. That might get her to rethink this "twice a day is weird" mentality she has :D
