What should I add to my que?

I just noticed that my Netflix que is getting very low, so I am turning to you for help . . . what should I add?

I use Netflix to get my grubby little paws on movies that I won't find anywhere else. So hit me with some suggestions of "obscure" films (any genre) that I really should see!

I notice that you own *some* TV on DVD, but not a ton. I don't know how many of these you have seen and maybe don't like, but you could put some of these fantastic shows into your queue:

Farscape
Babylon 5
Buffy/Angel
Firefly
Sports Night
Alias

There's also a lot of fun shows that, while not 4-star classics, are a great way to spend some time: The A-Team, Wonder Woman, Quantum Leap, etc. (some of these may interest you, given the Battlestar/Batman in your collection).

Anyway, Netflix is a great way to get started on a show that you may love, but are nervous about a 'blind buy'.

I agree--I've had hit-or-miss luck with 'obscure' titles, but I've really gotten my $ out of Netflix just re: TV series [and anime series]. Very few TV series I'll rewatch, so I hate to buy it for 30-70 bucks; and some of them 'sound' good, but I didn't catch on TV so I don't want to blind buy them.

Firefly was one of those--excellent series.

And many of them get better treatment on tv than they ever did on TV.
Catching a bunch of the old Twilight Zone eps has been good as well.

I enjoyed 'The Tick' a lot more on DVD than TV.

Here's a feature I wish Netflix offered: 'Share Your Queue', a read-only, optional 'public listing' of what's in your queue that you can share with other people so they can see what you're interested in, and vice versa.

Everything.

I'm kind of holding off on TV shows right now (just due to personal time constraints), but am definitely looking forward to sitting down to Firefly, Alias, and the Tick (after the kids get done playing baseball I'll have 3-4 nights a week back!) . . .

I second (or third or whatever) Firefly. I also love Sports Night and Family Guy (even though Family Guy makes fun of Sports Night).

EDIT: After actually reading the last post (d'oh!) I realize I'm a tad slow. I'd recommend Weather Underground, Tape, and Drugstore Cowboy as some not-terribly-well-known movies.

Kind of off the original topic, my queue has hit the wall. Meaning, I added so many to it that I just got a message telling me that I have to delete some titles before I can add anymore. I guess the cut-off is around 500.

"ue"

;)

TomOpus 06-28-04 05:42 PM

Not sure if you've seen it... or if it's not obscure enough for ya... but check out The Devil's Backbone

Hobgoblin 06-28-04 07:28 PM

I would also recommend Dark Angel 1st season.

BTW, How is 24? is it any good?

GHackmann 06-28-04 07:39 PM

The weirdest thing about 24 is that nothing in particular is that good about it. The acting's adequate, the writing's not that great, and the "real time" thing is pretty much just a gimmick.

But damn, do they know how to leave you wanting more. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good cliffhanger.

AOD 06-28-04 09:02 PM

Another one for the Tick. SPOON!!!

nemein 06-28-04 09:07 PM

Are you rating things as you rent them? If not you should start and try using the "recommendation" feature. It's turned up some stinkers for me, but it's also turned up some interesting things.

ttzx 06-29-04 05:04 AM

24 is excellent, you're not gonna want to stop watching.

majorjoe23 06-29-04 11:51 AM

Pasa?

Abob Teff 06-29-04 12:37 PM

Since the Tick is just two discs, I went ahead and added it to the front of my que . . .

. . . Devil's Backbone was very good, but as with most Del Toro stuff I felt that there was something missing that could have pushed over into greatness . . .

. . . Keep them rolling in please! Currently I have out "The Two Jakes" (watched "Chinatown" the other day so I was curious), "Scenes from a Marriage," and a horror film called "Poison" is on its way . . .
