Terror Train - Finally!

I didn't see this posted yet. This was posted over at dvdfile:

Just announced from Fox Home Entertainment is the studios September 7th lineup of scary movies, just in time for Halloween. Making their DVD debuts are first-ever widescreen releases of such gems as The Alligator People, The Boston Strangler, Island of the Dead, Reign in Darkness, the Marlee Matlin thriller Hear No Evil, Blood Moon, Creepy Crawlers, Basket Case: The Progeny, the 1996 remake of The Vanishing, and the last remaining Jamie Lee Curtis slasher flick not yet released on DVD, Terror Train. All are presented in their original aspect ratios and anamorphically encoded if applicable, and feature trailers. Retail is $14.95 a pop.

Right before my birthday! Yes! :)

September is gonna be an expensive month for me.

Criterion's edition of the original The Vanishing is great, and I'll happily add the (addmittedly lesser) remake to my collection!

Is it just me or is September 7 is the new Studio Wallet Takeover Day.

I'm glad I didn't spend the money on Anchor Bay U.K's import edition - which was full frame no less!

Seems like a lot of 80's slasher films will finally be coming to DVD (or re-released) in the coming months.

Cheerleader Camp ... August 3
Chopping Mall ... August 17 (not exactly a typical slasher, but the setup, formula, and execution are the same)
The Funhouse ... September 7
Terror Train ... September 7
Friday the 13th Box Set ... October 5
He Knows You're Alone ... October 5
Happy Birthday To Me ... October 26

Now I just need Final Exam, Girl's Nite Out, Hospital Massacre, Slaughter High, and a few others and I'll be set. :)

...can't wait.
I'm VERY jacked on TT and HBTM! Been waiting a LONG time for these two..... a VERY long time.

Great list! You can remove The Dorm That Dripped Blood since it's already out (under it's alternate title Pranks)

Mountain--

that's a bootleg/unauthorized version. It's a port from the VHS. I've watched it. It's pretty awful. I prefer my video tape.
Jef films (who released that dvd) has done this on all their releases. They also released "Nightmares in a damaged brain" and it's the CUT version. In other words, stay away from these releases!

Great list, and in addition to Dorm/Pranks as mentioned above, Sweet Sixteen is supposedly on this DVD set: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=BHV044521 called Toga Party. It's one of those ten-disc Brentwood cheapie sets. Apparently they list and descibe a movie called Secrets of Sweet Sixteen, but the actual movie on the disc in the slasher movie Sweet Sixteen. I came *this* close to ordering this during the DDD sale, but I already ordered so much.

I honestly don't understand how anyone in marketing could think that cover makes the purchase more appealing to a consumer than the original artwork, whether it be a die hard fan OR a casual buyer.

demonio 07-20-04 04:26 PM

I think the cover makes it more appealing to the Wal-mart $5.50 bin personally.

The cover art kind of reminds me of this other '80s slasher.
