The cost of happiness. (not the movie)

I ran some numbers tonight based on my dvd buying.

So far this year I have spent 701.87 with DDD including the current sale stuff. This time last year I'd only spent about ~450. Since the 20% off sale came at christmas that is where the bulk of my purchases came from.

On this year's sale I spent 495.62. On last year's, 426.67.

Last year (2003) at DDD I spent a grand total of 1609.94. If they have another sale in 6 months I might double that this year.

This year at BOTH DDD and dvdempire I spent a grand total of 1117.37 and we are only 6-7 months into the year. That also does not include a few discs bought from smaller internet retailers, foreign discs purchased, used discs bought at Blockbuster and Holywood Video, or brick and mortar retail new discs.

Hrmmmmmm.

Well . . as long as you're happy, what does the cost matter?

Watching movies will give you something to do with all of the rain that we've been having lately in Atlanta.
Don't think of it as the money that you have spent on dvds, think of it as the amount of money that you have saved by not paying full price and buying the movies on sale.

I keep telling myself that my spending will slow once I get all the catalog titles I want for my collection. Maybe.

I have proably spent about the same this year, but I bought alot of used in this forum and have sold off about 100 titles I never foresaw watching again.

DDD sale really drove it up.
