DVDEmpire has several new SNL best-of discs up for pre-order, including Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan, Christopher Walken, and a Volume 2 of Will Ferrell. All have a $19.98 SRP listed, with a 9/7 release date. There's also a Will Ferrell 2-disc set, with Volumes 1 & 2, with a $29.98 SRP, due out on the same date.

Sweet! I'll definitely be picking up Walken (hope The Continental is on it), Kattan and Ferrell Vol 2.

I was not too impressed with the first Will Ferrell SNL DVD. It had a few funny moments, but it was not a keeper.

I'll definitely be picking up Walken (hope The Continental is on it),
They showed this a few weeks ago. They showed a Continental I had never seen before which I believe was the first one ever (highlights included "Throw cham-pan-ye in my face once, shame on you; throw cham-pan-ye in my face twice, shame on me!" and a great part where his moustache starts to come off for a minute or two, and he suddenly realizes it, breaks character and pushes on it).

The skits they showed were (this will probably wind up out of order):
- opening sketch from two years ago where Walken plays French
- "You say Potato" monologue
- Cowbell
- Trivial Psychic
- The Continental (first one, I think)
- Pranksters
- The Lovahs (the second one Walken did with them)
- The Census Taker [my favorite skit ever]
- some stupid skit with that annoying Cheri O'Teri character, the woman on her porch, with Walken as a neighbor
- the Boulevard of Broken Balls [another one CC used to cut]
- it ended on a clip from the anniversary with Walken in the audience talking to Tom Hanks about improvisation versus scripting
- Update (thanks flagstone): the "Colonel Angus" sketch

I might be leaving one or two off...

Notable things they left off: The Centaur sketch, the crazy sea captain, Christopher Walken on impotence, his "Pat" sketch, and I thought it would've been cool if they'd put the Spacey impression in (if not one of the Mohr ones as well; "Skittles" probably).

Glad to hear about both.

I agree the Skittles and Star Wars screen test should be on it. I also LOVE the centaur, Pat and crazy sea captain sketches. "Likely story. That's crap. Boo"

Also, they did run a second volume of the best of Will Ferrell sometime last season. Maybe closer to "Elf"'s opening weekend. Had that OUTSTANDING doctor sketch when Tim Meadows made Will start laughing. "Son of a vondruke..."

Not sure what else was on there, but I hope, beg, wish and pray they have Red Ships of Spain. "Easy Robert, he never had the gifts you have." Also, I want more Neil Diamond, Jacob Silj and Robert Goulet teaming up with Jay-Z. I still think Will had no idea the ram would get offered a joint at the end of the scene.

Will they ever get around to putting some "best of" DVDs for the original cast members. I remember watching excellent VCR tapes of Belushi, Ackroyd and Gilda Radner

I was just thinking the same thing: How about a nice 5-disc box set: The Best of John Belushi, Dan Ackryod, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase & Bill Murray?

YES!!!!

I wasn't holding my breath on a Walken disc, so this comes as a very welcome surprise!

I do hope they include the deranged sea captain, but I will be buying it either way!

These were the funniest sketches of the last 10 years, and none were on the first disc. He did do it on the audition tape feature. Hopefully this volume contains a few. This is the first Vol.2 they've done, its nice to see Will Ferrell starting to get the respect he deserves.

Had that OUTSTANDING doctor sketch when Tim Meadows made Will start laughing. "Son of a vondruke..."
That's "Dr. Poop", right? And then Will goes, "I'm sorry, that was the best I could think of."

I've always felt like that sketch was improvised. And I'm pretty sure that the reason that Will Ferrell went to bat and got Chris Parnell his job back had something to do with the fact that Parnell *never* cracks up on camera, even in that skit where everybody else is (including Ferrell).

Watch Ferrell trying to make Parnell laugh in the "Cowbell" sketch, it's great.

no centaur sketch???
I tend to think they were trying to have an equal number from each ep, for some reason. Off-hand, I forget whether the centaur sketch was in the "Cowbell" or the "Census", but both of those were well-represented.

Also, the one reason I don't have a problem with it (admittedly, a selfish one) is that it seemed like they were intentionally showing things Comedy Central hadn't shown; the census, the Cheri O'Teri, and the Boulevard of Broken Balls *never* got shown on Comedy central ... the centaur was shown when they showed whichever episode it was, so I was able to tape that, but I hadn't yet been able to tape those other sketches. And, as I said, the census is my favorite skit ever. (They used to show the second Christina Agueliera song instead...)

But, boy, I hope the DVD has extra skits, and one of the extra skits is "Christopher Walken for Viagra". It's just funny, funny stuff.

I would like to see a best of John Goodman episode. He's had some classic episodes hosting.

Walken, I love it. " I got a fever, and the only remedy is.... more cowbell ! "

I can always use more cowbell.

Is Walken the only guest host to have his own best-of dvd ?
