Is anyone disappointed that the starwars collection
is only 4 disks?
how many did you want? 4 seems fine to me.
Honestly? No. In fact, 3 would have been fine.
3 discs worked fine for the Back to the Future Trilogy. Then I again, I wouldn't have complained if they'd whipped out a 9 disc Alien Quadrilogy style boxset either. Theatrical Editions included, obviously. ;)
I was hoping for all 3 movies to be on a double-sided single disc release so that it wouldn't take up much room on my shelf, so yes, I'm disappointed.
It could never live up to the Definitive Collection laserdisc set, so what's the point?
Extremely. There's tons of material out there, this could have been a boxset to break the bank and bookshelf.
Though maybe that's their thinking, they didn't want to alienate the casual fans with a mega boxset, and they knew us fanboys would buy it multiple times. Oh well, I'll be getting it anyways. |
Actually, yes. Episodes one and two set the tone for how Lucas was going to handle all the movies on DVD and those are awesome DVDs. I was hoping for three two disc sets, so the box set would be six discs in total. Anything less is a true disappointment.

I'm not dissapointed. I think the ~40 dollar mark for the set is perfect, and putting out a 6-9 disc set and charging 75-90 bucks makes it a harder sell. I'm not that big enough of a Star Wars fan to shell out that kind of money.
I'm with the disapointed...I would've loved a Alien Quadrilogy type mega set, or at least someting up to the level of the prequel DVD releases. I am one of those that was extremely disapointed with the lackluster Indiana Jones DVD set, and this looks to be right along those lines.
Not that I won't buy the set. Star Wars on DVD is better than nothing. But you know there's tons of material, and there's no reason we can't have something along the lines of the LoTR or Alien discs. I'd buy it. |
What disappointed me more was your thread title.
Maybe if you put what disappointed you in there more people would click and respond while sharing their disappointment. :) |
I'm always disappointed...
Spoiler:
Lets see:
does the boxset include the 3 movies? yes. Ok good enough for me. |
I'm kinda disappointed that the box won't match Episodes 1-3 on my shelf. And that they could have easily made this a bigger set then just 4 discs. This is f'n Star Wars we're talking about. Why not go all out?
But hey, at least we are finially getting them. |
I think they should have 30 discs, each one would have the SW christmas special, extras, SW mini-series, and a tour of Skywalker Ranch, and Rick McKallums house, and R2D2's knowledge on how he walks around in there.
Don't worry -- Lucas will find enough time to re-release the DVD set another five or six times before HD-DVD makes a splash in the consumer market.
As long as it got no jar jar it in, I'm happy.
I think each film should be a two-disc set. It would have been nice if each of the original films got the same kind of attention that the newer ones got on DVD. It's not like there isn't hundreds of hours of archive material that Lucas could include. So I'm a little disappointed.
Each disc being a 2-disc set would have been preferable. But I'll make due with what we're given. Still have my Definitive LD set.
Isn't the movie, the sound and picture quality more important than how many discs of features it has? In fact, that IS the most important thing. Not features.

Box Set Trailer.

It has trailers, a couple of short featurettes, a stills section, and the worst joke of a commentary track in the history of the medium. Wow, amazing. Even back in the LD days before we had discs like LotR 4-disc sets, etc. that box was considered to be pretty much a joke. |

Originally posted by zidane349 is only 4 disks? Anyone who doesnt think that there wull be a huge set with all six movies out sometime after Episode III comes out is a fool. Anyone who complains about the double-dip when this six movie set comes out is not paying attention. So relax. If there arent enough discs in this set, then hold off until 2006. Me, I'm gladly getting this AND the '06 set. |
