Do you have the "what DVD to watch" disorder??
 

I think I may have ADD or something but sometimes I find myself staring at my dvd collection (200+) and maybe deciding for over 10 mins trying to decide what to watch.

Ranging from it be a movie that I may feel like watching the umpteenth time or one that I have not even seen, or drama, action, horror, sci-fi etc. my mood just starts switching as I go through all the titles. The problem too is that I may stare at all the titles and decide that I have nothing to watch.

Any of you have this syndrome?

LOL! i'm in the same position... i've got a whole load of movies i own that i still haven't seen yet and i find myself always saying "hrmm no.. i dont wanna watch that, how about... nooo can't watch that eitehr!"

let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier when you have a ton of discs either. I find myself taking longer to decide what to watch than it does to actually watch it.

I find I've placed too many "heavy" films in my collection. It's hard to find the mood for some of these. Some are even too disturbing to head to when you just feel like watching a flick. You have to prepare to watch them.

I have the exact same problem. Good to know that I'm not alone.

I often look at my dvd collection and, being in the mood to watch a certain movie, would pick out a title. But then I would recall a scene in that film that I really didn't like and put the dvd back to the shelf.

Back to square one and start looking again for what to watch.

It is truly such a pleasure and almost overwhelming joy to know that there are more, many more out there with the same neurosis as me. The addiction is never quenched and I guess we couldn't be happier or sadder perhaps. Happens to me all the time!

I keep a log on what I watch and If I haven't watched something for 90 days Its eligible to be watched again.Usually watch new movies on Saturday nights.

Buy a 300 disc changer, put all the movies in it, push random.

Think I'm gonna get the Sony 400 disc DVD changer and put some porn in there... Hmmm... maybe need to get 2 and link 'em together. It's so hard to decide which chick I'm into this week.

I've got less than 50 movies and I've had this problem for a while already. I can't decide what to watch, so I don't watch anything. Drives me nuts.

Yep, if I never can decide I usually just put in Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. I can watch those two no matter what mood I'm in :D

This is actually a bigger reason why I stopped purchasing a lot of dvd's than HD-DVD being not far off. I can never pick anything that I own but I have no problem popping in whatever netflix sent to me that day so investing in a large collection seemed like a waste of money (for me).

I am afflicted as well. My record time for deciding on a dvd to watch is approx. 35 minutes. I had to walk away and come back with a clear head. Sad but true...

Funny thing is I'm normally a very decisive person in both work and family matters.

I'll sometimes spend a few minutes deciding what new movie to watch, but not really the "disorder". It's exciting to look throguh films and pick one. I'm a fan of all the movies in my collection and tried to spread it out to have some for all moods so no, it's never a chore. Especially ending up watching nothing??? I'm starting to think some DVD collectors aren't much movie fans as they're just collecting something to collect it.

same here. I'll just stand there like "hmmmmmm, lets see...................no, uh......................maybe.......................................no..........well, no........................hmmmmmmmmmmmm........................etc.

My problem is that I alwasy have two or three TV Sets to watch at a time, because they come out so fast now-a-days, and I want to watch all the sets I haven't watched, but it gets hard to pick one... right now i actually came online to decided between the 4th disc of nip/tuck, 1st disc of simpsons s4, 2nd disc of Jeremiah s1, or my old Buffy s7 VHS.

I have the same exact problem. Too many discs, so many decisions.

Here's my solution. My girlfriend and I combined our collections about 6 months ago. She brought a lot of movies I'd never seen and I had a lot she's never seen. So wem have them alphabetized on our shelves (thanks DVD Profiler), started at "A" and are watching them all as they come up. (next up, the Matrix movies). Byu the way, we have about 470 total.

Yes I do. I usually just give up and watch TV (I have over 700 DVDs).

hehe, it's natural. The desire to collect in the first place... "to have films we want at our disposal to watch whenever we want to", has a dark side.

We have trouble choosing because we still think, "well, I don't have to watch this tonight, I own it, so I can watch it at any time."

In contrast, when a person's netflix disc arrives or they go out and rent a new release, psychologically they know that they'll only have the disc for a short time, so they watch it immediately.

I have a modest sized collection that continues to grow at a faster rate than I'm able to watch them. Multi-film sets like the Universal Monsters Legacy, TV seasons, and multi-title deals like Barnes-n-Nobles' buy-2-get-1-free aren't helping the situation.

This has forced me to at least attempt to watch them as I buy them... (leaving the previously un-watched discs for another time).

This kills two birds with one stone... By doing this, I now know what I'm going to watch, and, it puts a dent in the growing stockpile of unwatched discs. :D

This crap happens to me too. I sit there and stare, sometimes for like 30 minutes. I just can't decide. It's like I feel guilty if I pick one over the other. Like their my kids or something. When this happens, I usually wind up going over to the Johnny Depp collection and picking one from there, so it's never really a bad thing. I don't hide the fact to my dvd's that Johnny's my favorite. :D

But I do find myself thinking throughout the day, "What do I want to watch when I get home?" this helps alleviate the problem.
