what do you hate most about dvds?

i hate that you always gotta keep em safe or in a case. im not a very tidy person, and something i really liked about vhs was how you could just throw it across the room when you were done.

That circle in the middle.

PopcornTreeCt 06-18-04 11:01 AM

Umm...their collectability. And the fact that there are websites devoted to them that promote collecting.

wordtoyamotha 06-18-04 11:03 AM

The inevitability that another format will one day replace them. :(

flashburn 06-18-04 11:05 AM

Ones that aren't anamorphic and/or OAR.

NaturalMystic79 06-18-04 11:09 AM

The fact we have to pay for them. :grunt:

BlackBeauty92 06-18-04 11:18 AM

for me, the Re-re-re-release of em
they did that with LD (which is worse i think due to its prices)

:)

Fok 06-18-04 11:30 AM

Double dipping......they should get it right the first time.

Understandable for the very old releases, but you gotta be joking with the new ones. At least give the consumer a choice (thumbs up for the LOTR trilogy).

CanadianKnight 06-18-04 11:41 AM

The fact that I can't melt 'em down and inject 'em directly into my veins.

My name is CK, and I'm a DVD addict. ;)

nodeerforamonth 06-18-04 11:42 AM

That I don't have enough time to watch all the ones I want to.

TomMiller 06-18-04 11:59 AM

The fact that you are usually blocked from fast forwarded or skipping past all of the introductory stuff before getting to the DVD menue (FBI warnings and the like). It takes about a minute to load a DVD, whereas you can play a CD in three seconds.

This isn't a big issue when just playing a movie, but when doing demos, or trying to trouble shoot a problem, or trying to do comparisons between movies, it is a real PITA.

TomOpus 06-18-04 12:04 PM

I fully understand the reasoning but I hate region-coding.

antennaball 06-18-04 12:12 PM

The fact that I can't stop purchasing them.

Seriously.

It's real easy to make it go away ..... less than $100 ..... I wish <i>all</i> the problems in life could be eliminated so easily.

johnbook 06-18-04 12:13 PM

Opening a brand new one, all those damn theft seals...

ukywyldcat 06-18-04 12:16 PM

that i dont get them for free

lcnickell 06-18-04 12:21 PM

Floaters.

or ones that say Directed by Spielberg on them

RichDB10 06-18-04 12:27 PM

The fact that they take up space!!....and that you begin to think you need to sell your house..not because of an expanding family...but because the spare room is now no longer big enough to house your collection :D

Artman 06-18-04 12:29 PM

-They can only hold a certain amount of data. (isnt it about 4 hrs?)

-Layer changes.

Chew 06-18-04 12:37 PM

  • re-re-releases
  • non-anamorphic discs
  • knowing HD is around the corner

Yeah yeah yeah I know all about region-free players... but it would make easier for EVERYONE if there was no regional coding. Other regions could have easier access to some of our cool collector sets and visa versa. Oh, while we're at it, let's make NTSC a world-wide standard :)

btw, having 2 players is not a good option since I won't give up my current player... too many features and it plays everything I throw at it

FuzzyBallz 06-18-04 12:46 PM

That the current crop of DVDs will look like crap when Blu-Ray becomes main stream and replacing it as the standard. Then I'd have to repurchase all my triple dipped DVDs. Damn you movie studios.

ChrisHicks 06-18-04 12:48 PM

the fact that no matter how great a disc is there will always be someone bitching about it.

ChrisHicks 06-18-04 12:54 PM

the fact that I have over 1600 DVDs and half of them are all the Army Of Darkness and Halloween rereleases. :D

Cardiac161 06-18-04 01:15 PM

The fact that seeing my dvd collection makes me realize how much I have spent could have gone to my life savings.
