DVD rack over air conditioning vent... DVD deterioration possible?
My 5 row DVD rack is positioned over a 12" by 6" air conditioning vent. There's a one inch gap between the vent and the bottom row of DVD's. Only 50% of the vent is being obscured.
The rack's open air design looks similar to this: http://www.thejungles.com/soloakdow275.html Is there a danger of damaging the DVD's by keeping them over the vent? I'm concerned about both seasons: cool air (summertime) and warm air (winter). Mods, if this is considered too off topic, please move it appropriately. |
As long as you avoid extreme temperatures, i wouldn't imagine there would be a problem. If you can move it, it would probably be best to avoid the situation and maximize air circulation.

anytime you have the increased possibility of cold/warm air interactions, you have the possibility for moisture condensation...
moisture is not good for DVDs... in general, keeping *anything* over an a/c vent is "not a good idea." |
I think a good rule of thumb is that DVD's are a pretty expensive investment to gamble with, even if the risk of placing them over an A/C vent is questionable.
Find an alternate spot for storing them and put your mind at ease. |
