Movies that get better as you get older

I rewatched Close Encounters of the Third Kind this weekend for the first time in several years. I first saw it when I was eight years old, and while I liked it a lot, it didn't stick with me as much as Jaws, E.T., or Jurassic Park. Yet when I watched it again, I was floored. I'm in my twenties now, relatively close to the age Spielberg was when he made the film, and the story of an ordinary grown man really living a dream resonated much more deeply with me this time. It's now definitely one of my favorite films, yet at eight it probably would have ranked way below, say, The Goonies.

Has anyone else had an experience like this, where age and knowledge change the way you respond to a film?

Note - sorry, wasn't paying attention and realized right after the fact that I had posted this in the wrong forum. I notified the mods and hopefully it will be moved to Movie Talk shortly.

Roger Rabbit and Willy Wonka. They address a lot of issues that are over the head of most kids.

Toy Story. There's so many jokes in that movie that I just don't see younger kids getting. Same goes with Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Last Year at marienbad When I was eight, I didn't fully comprehend the symbolism of geometry to signify madness.

8 1/2- didn't get it when I first saw it, now it's one of my favorites.

French Connection- it seemed like your standard police triller when I saw it at 14, now I see it as the incredibly tight masterpiece it is.

Casablanca. The first time I saw it I didn't quite understand it(I must have been 8), but the more I see it the more I truly believe this is one of the 5 greatest movies ever made.

The first Shrek. I was only three when it came out, so naturally I didn't get a lot of the "in jokes" and pop-culture references.

Even more remarkable is the fact that he joined the forum in 2000
when he was only 1.

Amazing! The kid is going to grow up to be a super-genius!

And I'm pretty stupid for typing "your" instead of "you're" in my above post.

For me it would be Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express, Fallen Angels and In the Mood for Love.

It's cool, most "intelligent" people can't differentiate between its and it's either. And of course, the all time favorite, there and their.

For me, "Annie Hall" gets better, more resonant and more identifiable as I age.
