South Park S5 - 10/12/04!!

Credit to David Lambert

Sources informed us yesterday that South Park - The Complete 5th Season is already planned to arrive from Comedy Central/Paramount on October 12th. Keep in mind that this is still subject to change, of course. If it holds, though, this would represent the shortest time span between season set releases of this series yet. Good job, and we'll be on the looking for more info about this package. Stay tuned!

Looks like Paramount wants to get these out quick than WB did. Fine by me

Damn, do we even have a coverart for Season 4? They're really quickening things up. This is great news to hear though, each season is better than the last.

The sooner the better if you ask me, can't wait. Is the show still going strong on TV?

Thanks for giving credit to me, Josh, but really it's best to say "TVShowsOnDVD". Gord actually passed me the info to post for him.

Cover art for S4 is here.

Any extras? Now that I have a stand alone DVD burner, I don't think I'll be picking up too many TV shows unless they come out with extras (preferably commentary).

The folks behind the Simpsons DVD sets could learn a thing or two from Comedy Central ...

I prefer the better extras and picture quality we get with Simpsons releases.

Season Five, IMO, was the best season Matt and Trey produced of the show. I don't own seasons two through four (yet), but I'm going to buy season five no matter what.

Same with me. Season 3 just got lost in the shuffle of Christmastime and finals last December, and I haven't seen a price that was tempting enough to buy it since then. I've been hoping that there will be a deal for buying two seasons when Season 4 comes out. Otherwise I'll just bite the bullet and buy both. I've seen every episode a couple of times anyway so I'm not in a huge hurry, but its nice to have them on DVD.

I love this show but have them all in RealVideo on a few CD-Rs (made from videotapes or recently from a video capture card).

I guess I should finally bite the bullet and pick up the DVD sets.

Does anyone know if you can still get the CDs with the audio commentary for season 1?

I think the CDs are still available, either through Comedy Central or ebay.

It's a shame that Warner Bros. set a crappy tone with commentaries and Matt & Trey on the 1st set. They've only done "commentary minis" since then (4-5 minutes long). I've already heard the Season 4 commentary minis and they're pretty hilarious.

EDITED TO ADD: You may want to hold off on picking up the first couple seasons (1 & 2). They are going to re-release them with remastered audio in a few months. I don't think it will make a ton of difference, but just wanted to throw that out there.
