No sir... I don't like it.

To be honest, I don't care for many of the movies on your list. Then again, that's just my personal opinion. Were you to take a look at my list (link in signature), you may well say the same for my movies. In a way, that's what's great about people's DVD collections; they are quite personal.

I'd take a look at the AFI Top 100 or the IMDB Top 250. There's something for almost everybody there, and they all are better than movies like "Suicide Kings", "Enough" and "Gone in 60 Seconds"

This thread is very confusing. Is there something about your collection you're wanting to brag about, or are you just legitimately wanting advice on what movies to get? "We-all" could be here all day and night recommending things to you, but it would be solely our opinions. Personally, I only own one movie from your collection (two if you count ROTK, but I have widescreen), and the rest I have no urge to add to my own collection whatsoever. Why? Personal taste.

So, here's my recommendation: You should get.....whatever you want to get.

Welcome to the forum.

There's a few there I own, but don't like most of what you have.

Bthe looks of what you have already, those 2 would probably be good additions. How about:

Godfather 1 and 2
Casino
Miller's Crossing
Menace 2 Society
Pulp Fiction

no Two Towers? Odd.

What I like from your list:

Blow
Goodfellas (better sell this one, SE is coming)
LOTR: FOTR & ROTK*
Reservoir Dogs
Traffic
White Men Can't Jump

* you have FOTR widescreen, but fullscreen ROTK?

you don't have to answer, but how old are you? I see from your list that you have a lot of "teen" movies...so maybe I can help you out with "Better" teen films...

Your collection should consist of DVDs you like,
not DVDs that'll impress others.

Welcome to DVDtalk

As some have pointed out as long as you enjoy the movie never mind what others say, it's your collection not theirs. There do seem to be some odd holes in your collection though, Two Towers and X-Men (the first one) to name two off hand. Not sure what I can offer in the way of recommendations though since we do seem to have different tastes in movies. If you like Rush Hour more for Jackie than Chris I can suggest:

Modern:
Supercop
First Strike
Operation Condor (the 2nd one is only so-so though)
Who Am I?
Rumble in the Bronx
Shanghai Noon (not a strong recommendation for the 2nd one though)

Period:
Legend of Drunken Master
Miracles
Dragon Lord
Young Master

Edited to add: Also a TV show you might find interesting is The Shield.

Welcome to the forum Maki.

If these are movies you like, then you have a decent beginning collection. Judging by the ones you already own, you might also consider:

Fight Club
Pulp Fiction

Re: what yall think of my dvd COLLECTION ratings or recommendations

Only about 5 or 6 titles on your list that I like, but then, I probably have a lot of stuff that you're not likely to want. Neither one of us should really care.....

What's a yall .... I'm not sure I want to be one.

Yall have too many fullscreen DVDs for my taste, regardless of the titles. Yall need to get right with the DVD gods and start buying widescreen. Yall.

Personnaly, I would say it is a good start if those are all movies you like. Some Catalog titles and some newer titles.

Now just flesh it out with what you like. Personally - I would add The Sopranos (all of them) next - They would look nice next to Goodfellas and don't forget there is a new SE of it coming soon. Also, ditch the Full Screen stuff and stick with widescreen or OAR.

I really don't care for most of the films in your collection. I am impressed that you own The Others. That is an underrated film.
