I have no problem with this set, and can safely assume that Designing Women and Newhart can't be far behind. Not sure about the spinoff Empty Nest, but would probably pick it up if it came out as well.

Will probably get Golden Girls eventually. Wife is a big fan, and no one can deny that it does have some funny lines (mainly from Estelle Getty).

You people do know that this is one of the top syndicated shows and the ratings have always been very good.

Of course it's going to get a release.

Surprised it took this long. The only reason it wasnt released last year is because it is doing extremely well in syndication.

This should not be a surprise to anyone. The show runs continuously on cable. It was a hit from the beginning. Was a ratings winner as well as bagging many Emmys over the years it was on. So, there is a market for it. Now the real head scratcher TV DVDs for me are "The Jeff Foxworthy Show", "The A-Team" and "Who's the Boss".

The only one of those that is even remotely a head-scratcher is "The Jeff Foxworthy Show."

Maybe for you. As I said in my post, they are head scratchers for me. But glad you think all three are DVD worthy.

I'm a 24 year old male, and I LOVE Golden Girls. If you ask me, it's one hell of a TV show with many funny lines, great writing, and just perfect people in the various roles.

I mean, how could anyone ever forget about Stan and his monkey?

I don't care what anyone says, it's a great show and one of my personal favorites. No matter which episode I watch, it never fails to make me laugh. I can only say that about a select few shows.

My wife loves this show and I have to admit it makes me laugh as well. I'll end up picking this up.

Same here. Few shows make me laugh out loud, especially on repeated viewings, but The Golden Girls is definitely one of those shows. I'm looking forward to getting this.

"This has gone too far."

Trust me - this is wanted and is very worthy of a release on DVD. I have been awaiting this since TV on DVD became popular, and even created an online petition (www.petitiononline.com/golden) singed 11812 people - so obviously this is wanted!!

This show is one of the top rated TV shows in syndication as people have mentioned. This was proven when it was actually on the primtime Nielson ratings about a year ago which is odd for a syndicated show that started 2 decades ago!

This is personally my favourite show of all time, so I will be there when the store opens! I have been watching this since it began re-airing in Canada five years ago, have every episode on tape, and catch it as often as I can. This is the only show (along with The Mary Tyler Morre Show) that I can watch repeatedly, and not tire of. While shows like I Love Lucy are great, there are certain epsiodes that I trie of - not with The Golden Girls! I am 18, and this is extremely popular with university/college students, as seen on The OC.

I hope the include the original season one openings! That would be awesome! Anything more would just be great, such as commentaries, interviews, TV spots, advertsing galleries, magazine covers/articles, various documentaries that have aired over the years, award clips, Lifetime bios on the girls, and the NBC Fall Preview on the Girls. What do you all think, what types of bonus features would you like to see?

Andy

Maybe for you. As I said in my post, they are head scratchers for me.
They're not head scratchers for the exact reason you gave for The Golden Girls, i.e. they've run on cable and syndication pretty continuously and they were (believe it or not) fairly popular during their initial runs. There's no real mystery to it.

did some one say whos the boss?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about how much I hate Tony Danza. He's the shit-head at the top of this page that starred in the 80's sitcom: "Who's the Boss." I didn't have any friends when I was a kid (and I still don't), so I would spend all my time hating Tony Danza. Every day after school, I'd run home and watch "Who's the Boss" and hope that Tony Danza would fall into a pit and die. Then I'd laugh and laugh. "Who's the boss now, bitch?" I'd say. But it didn't happen very often. No wait, it never happened. That bastard gave me false hopes, and that's why I hate him

gotta love maddox
