I was wondering when Criterion would announce thier July schedule...
Thats not the Ozu I was expecting (the rumor was for The Only Son), but a good one none the less.
Not too familiar with the Renoirs and Carne.

Dang,
There goes another $150 bucks down the drain for July.....
Not that I'm complaining. Keep on kicking 'em out! Not real familiar with the Renoir films in the box, but if they are anything like his previous films and the set is half as good as the other Criterion Box sets, I'm all over it!!!

I'm sorry, you've seen all of these films then? Because I've seen Early Summer, and it's a breathtaking piece of film. Typical Ozu, true, but I'll take typical Ozu anyday over a piece of crap blockbuster du jour.

(it might just be me, but does Ozu just make the same film over and over? There's something to be said about working within your genre, but come on... - not that his films are bad or anything, just very much the same - seen one, seen 'em all.)
