Good news, but I am still semi-concerned about the quality of these releases. Without Roy's involvement, these have the potential to be sub-par efforts (and quite probably censored).

Thanks for the info.

With Roy's involvement, we had "censorship" on 'Silly Symphonies' if nothing else (and I thought there were other examples too, but I'm not sure; at the very least, Roy held up releasing "On the Front Lines" while we were at war), though, didn't we? So I don't see how that's too much difference.

Of course, Disney cutting things from it's own films is not censorship by any proper definition of censorship; there are other words which mean what you mean, I prefer "expurgated", but that's just because I'm a big Monty Python fan. ("Bowdlerize" is also a funny word, but might not quite apply here.)

Slightly off topic, but has anyone heard if Donald Duck in Mathmagicland is coming to DVD?

It was supposed to be in WAVE 4 on an assembled collection type release, but that was swapped out for True Life.

It might have been accidental censorship because it's intact on the R2 release.

But yea there is more. Most notably the “don’t try this at home” screen inserted in a cartoon in Disneyland USA.

Info on True Life Adventures: http://www.geocities.com/disney_laserdiscs/true.html

I wonder if the "bad" Mickey Mouse cartoons will make it intact. Gosh I hope so

Mickey in B&W is always a solid choice. The more I read about True Life Adventures, the more I'm interested in checking it out. It's the exact opposite for MMC however.

Does anyone know when the Salvador Dali cartoon made with Disney will be released. I saw it with Triplets of Belleville. This was one of Roy's Pet Projects.

The only ones remotely interesting are Pluto and B&W vol. 2. Can't say I'm too excited about the others.

Like the previous waves, I will be getting all of these. In all honesty, I'm less than thrilled about the Mickey Mouse Club, but all the previous Treasures have been fantastic enough to convince me to at least give it a shot.

And if I'm feeling generous, I might even get ThatGuamGuy a new dictionary, too. But that horse is even more boring than it is dead.

I'll probably buy all (as long as they're not censored). Any footage involving the REAL Disney (ie not Eisner's Disney II) is a treasure. Even if it sucks.

I am hoping that the TRUE LIFE ADVENTURE package includes the Oscar-winning feature films WHITE WILDERNESS, THE LIVING DESERT, VANISHING PRAIRIE as well as THE AFRICAN LION, although there is just so much space on two DVD's... there were many two-reelers (about 30 minutes each).

The Mickey Mouse Club will likely be a "best of" type of thing

No way all can be on 2 discs!

Although the Mickey Mouse Club TV series premiered on October 3, 1955, the Mouseketeers made their first television appearance on July 17, 1955 - on the ABC broadcast special celebrating the opening of Disneyland.

Walt Disney was adamant that the Mouseketeers be regular kids, not actors. Producers searched schools looking for kids with that special spark.

The Mousketeers went to school 5 days a week on the Disney lot. Not only did they work 6 days but Sundays were often spent performing for the public. Being a Mousketeer wasn't easy.

The Mousketeers became close friends and remain so to this day.

Sadly, the show only ran for 3 years and 360 episodes. ABC wanted to run more ads and Walt Disney refused. His conntract forbid him from shopping the show to another network.

Jimmy Dodd died in 1964 at the too young age of 54. Roy Williams died in 1976.

I've been keeping up on the upcoming Wave 4 on Ultimate Disney forums, and they have some rumors for wave 5 including a compilation of odds and ends and Song of the South.
