Do you watch DVDs on the spur of the moment or are they planned?

I for the most part have them planned.Usually I leave Wednesday nights open for a movie.Almost never watch network or cable tv except for sports.

Whatever movie I'm in the mood for.

On occasion I really get in the mood to see a certain one and will put it off for a day or two until I can watch it all in one sitting.

Spur of the moment. The only time it is ever planned is when the wife and I rent a movie, and need to watch it before the return date. Movies I own are watched at random for the most part.

Spur of the moment, but alot of the time I'll watch what I just recently bought. Picked up Lion King and Man on the Train yesterday, and I'll be watching both tonight probably.

Both. Many times my wife and I will talk about what movie we want to watch that night while we're driving to work in the morning. Other times, we'll just pick something on the fly.

Mostly spur of the moment, but sometimes it will be planned...

The kids usually insist on a daily dose of Disney too, so I guess thats planned ?

Spur of the moment. I usually plan to watch concurrent episodes of my TV DVD's after the flick, though.

Planned in the sense that if I don't want to watch something in my collection, I'll go buy a DVD or two so I can watch them that night.

Spur of the moment also happens when there's nothing good on TV (which is often).

Most of the time I run my DVD collection through my mind throughout the day to decide what I'm in the mood for. Today it was Tombstone: Directors Cut After I watch the movie I have planned if I have more time I'll just pick a movie to watch.

Both! Sometimes I'll plan a marathon, even an elaborate one like my favorite X-Files episodes that don't involve the mythology. Or just "I better watch that new Netflix rental that just came in".

Then there are times when I want to watch something funny and brainless or an episode of something that I can watch when I'm getting ready in the morning. Just depends on my mood, or sometimes what I've recently bought.

most of the time, it's planned. i try and watch something every day - usually at night, just before i go to bed. those are the times when i get my personal space. the rest of the day are taken up by work & family.

Usually whatever shows up in the mail from Netflix, if nothing is coming in I dig through my pile of unwatched movies. If that's low or there's nothing interesting in there at the moment I grab something random off the shelf (alot of times based on something I might have heard that day or was thinking about or a previous movie, for instance watched Targets from Netflix which got me thinking about sniper movies so of course I had to watch Sniper ).

both. I plan things out if i go out and buy a stack of 6 dvds. I also plan marathons every few months. usually, a theme type atmosphere is present. last week was my "film-noir" weekend...a filmfest that lasted just over 24-hours.

the rest of the time it's whatever I'm in the mood for. I also check for delamination(rot) on a regular basis. this helps rotating the titles and making sure they all get repeated viddies through testing combined with enjoyment.

Both. On weekdays, I watch things based on my mood. However, I tend to plan weekend viewing with an eye toward viewing current purchases and thematically linked films or television series.

I plan out new releases for screenings at my theater. The remainder of the time is purely spontaneous.
