If I taped the "Friends Finale" is there really a need for the DVD?

I am just wondering what the gimmick will be? I have it on tape, but am still considering the DVD just because it is DVD, but don't think I will miss that much, will I? Does anyone know if it will be available to rent? If so, that will probably be the way to go, but then again at $9.99 MSRP, what will it rent for $2.00? I doubt it. Anyway, any comments would help decide. Thanks.

Well, for one thing the picture quality will be significantly better on DVD.

Since you don't own any Friends DVDs, then there really is no reason for you to buy it.

I'm sure it'll be up for rental somewhere, that sounds like your best bet.

But its "limited edition", so if you don't buy it right away, it will be gone forever.

Anyway, the quality will be much better. IF you really want this particular show, get it.

Does anyone know if it will be included when the final season comes out on DVD, or are they going to keep it seperate?

Hey Scott,

The "Friends Finale" dvd will include 2 versions of the final episode. Also the pilot episode, as well.

I guess it depends on whether or not you really want the extra stuff, but like the others have mentioned, the quality will be a lot better. (And no commercials if you recorded yours with them).

2 versions? what is the other version? i would have considered it more if it was truly a great episode, but i really didn't think it had the impact of an episode like when chandler and monica got engaged or the one with the prom video...if it had more of an impact it would have been a slam dunk. as is it was merely good, but with another version..that might be a consideration...

The DVD will include extra footage not included in the broadcast version. Also, the SRP is $14.99, not $9.99. Circuit City has it for $7.99. I'm definitely buying it.

As Rob said, at $7.99, it is a no brainer. I pre-ordered it at CC.com and am looking forward to it. I have never seen the finale, but am collecting the seasons.

Remember, the DVD has footage originally edited out (i.e. an extra scene or two), plus a few other extras, so the $8 and change makes it worth it.

The first episode, the final episode, the unaired footage, DVD quality, all for $8.

No-brainer. Buy. And give Circuit City props for a great price, and give them your business.

Best Buy - $14.99? Hardly. WTF?

If you gotta ask, then you probably don't need it! For a list of the extras on the disc go to any DVD site - Amazon.com, DVDplanet.com, etc., and read all about them. Personally I ordered it!

the FINAL episode is part of the FINAL season, so I see no reason why they would leave it off. Even at $8, that seems like a lot for 2 20 minute tv shows.

Although this seems a little redundant to type out, the Pilot is the first episode on the Friends Season One dvd collection.

Thanks a lot, Seņor condescending.

In case you aren't aware, a lot of pilot episodes are NOT considered part of the regular run of TV shows, and are not always shown to the general public, but used for test marketing. For example, the pilot of Married with Children had different actors for the kids, was never shown on broadcast tv, and was not included on the DVD set. I have no clue if this is the case with the Friends set, though.

I believe this will be the only DVD you can get the _broadcast_ versions of the finale and the pilot. All the season sets have the episodes with "footage you've never seen".

This DVD will contrain both the broadcast version and extra footage added versions of the finale.

If everything on the DVD is going to be included in the release of the final season DVd set then, as joey would say, "all this is a Moo point, you know like a cow's opinion, its moo"

It is a no-brainer for me, too... not to buy it. I'll wait to get it on the final season DVD set. Why would I want a DVD just of the final episode? I'm sure all of the bonus stuff will be in the season set.

It isn't worth buying unless it isn't going to be on the final season set - which would just be ludicrous IMO.
