Disney Treasures wave 4 titles

According to http://www.ultimatedisney.com/comingsoon.html

Mickey Mouse in Black & White Volume 2

The Mickey Mouse Club

The Complete Pluto

Assorted Treasures Set (will contain "Donald in Mathmagic Land" and "Ben & Me" programs)

Groucho 05-06-04 12:02 PM

For me, not nearly as exciting as Wave 3. I'll probably only get the Mickey one, and maybe the Assorted Treasures, depending on what's in there.

Class316 05-06-04 12:23 PM

Hopefully none of wave 4 is censored, especially since Roy is gone.

DVD Josh 05-06-04 12:34 PM

It is VERY important to note that these are VERY MUCH RUMORED releases, discussed before Roy Disney's departure from Disney. The Treasures were a pet project of Roy's, and without his involvement there is a good chance that Wave 3 may very well be the last in the series (which would be an incredible shame).

Just in case someone wants to jump on me for this, this is not my personal opinion, it can easily be obtained from the ultimate disney boards themselves.

JoeyOhhhh 05-06-04 01:02 PM

Sound very lackluster. I am still waiting for the remainder of the Walt Disney presents episodes about Disneyland.

The Exister 05-06-04 01:41 PM

I'll be buying them regardless. I can't help myself.

-ohbfrank- While he was severely mauled by the tiger, he's far from "gone."

Mickey in B&W Vol. 2 could potentially feature several cartoons with severe racial stereotypes that were left out of volume one. I'm not too hopefully that Disney will include them intact, even if presented in context with special intros. Some of it is really awful seen today.

haven't seen the referred to animated characters, but if they are as brutal as the black centaurette from 'Fantasia' I can understand why Disney will never let these images be seen today.

See sig.

I don't think there's a lot of really "offensive" ones...

Although, one of the funnier B&W's, "The Haunted House," was left off. It has a really funny Jazz Singer reference.

 It took me a minute...

shizawn 05-06-04 09:11 PM

Well, I'll probably end up getting the Mickey Mouse in Black & White Volume 2 and the Complete Pluto.

Not too thrilled about the others.

Brent L 05-06-04 09:32 PM

I'll get the Complete Pluto without a doubt. I'm a huge sucker for the Pluto shorts!

Class316 05-06-04 10:45 PM

I wonder what The Mickey Mouse Club would have.

JoeyOhhhh 05-06-04 10:48 PM

I am guessing its going to showcase the more famous Mousekeeters through out the years.

I think this was discussed in the "When's the next Looney Tunes collection coming out?" thread, but it was mentioned that WB should put all their "edgy" toons on one collection. I think Disney should do the same thing with a brief intro by Leonard Maltin for historical context.

Great get them out now:D

Pants 05-07-04 01:05 PM

I love just about everything Disney but I never cared for Pluto. He never did anything interesting. All he'd do is get different things stuck to his butt and then spend 7 minutes trying to get it off.

As impressed as I am by Disney releasing all those wartime cartoons on their "Disney on the Front Lines" set, I just can't ever see them ever releasing something like "Mickey's Mellerdramer", where Mickey & friends put on a production of Uncle Tom's Cabin. If they're too scared to release "Song of the South", then we'll never see something like that.

Surely that would be edited. Disney just isn't that edgy anymore. ;)

Maybe they should put everything they consider "offensive" (i.e., Song of the South, Mickey's Mellerdramer, etc) into a special, very limited edition Disney Treasure set. Disney's Non-PC series.
