Frames for movie posters
 

In some of the photos people posted showcasing their DVD's and home theaters, some people have nice movie posters in frames. When I checked around the internet, I found those posters for around $16, but it appears the frames cost over $100. Is there any good place to buy those frames cheaper?

I buy the ones from Suncoast for about $20 each. Whenever I've looked into custom frames, the prices are outragous!

Their snap open version is a little expensive but worth it if you like to cycle through posters.

I have a bunch of the Suncoast ones ... the are pretty cheap and can be a pain in the ass to change out, but they get the job done.

Thanks for the link. Have you purchased any of the Plasti-Loc Side Frames? They are $25 if 4 or more are pucrhased, which is exactly what I am looking for. I also have to admit the Freestanding DVD Marquee looks cool. I wonder how it can be $30 bucks and solid steel, and some of the other frames are so expensive. Maybe it is just me, but I think steel would be more expenisive than cardboard and plastic.

Nope I just have their snap-open frames. They attach to a wall and only have a clear plastic cover to put over the poster but overall they look really nice and are very easy to deal w/.

my local Suncoast closed, so I was lacking a place to find them. Ended up finding some frames (about the same as suncoast) at Garden Ridge. Also for $20.

There is no suncoast store by me. I tried looking for them on the web, and it appears they only sell DVD's.

Target has a good selection for cheap prices. i think i got one for 14 bucks.

if you have a AC Moore near you, they sell 27x40 and 27x41 for $15 and some times on sale for $10 and they are nice. I have 6 of them

I just noticed this weekend that my local Walmart has the exact 27x40 frames that Suncoast sells for $20.

As far as i know, Target only has sizes up to 24x36.

How much does Walmart charge?

I have NEVER found a 27x40 at a big retailer like Target/Wal-Mart/Meyer's/K-mart. I look all the time too(mutliple stores/multiple locations).

24x36 is the biggest I have seen at those stores.

I only use cheap frames for the basement area...otherwise I take all mine into a framer and have them custom-fitted and styled. a few of mine also are lighted. I spend between $75 and $200 on frames...all depends on the film/print itself.

I have all of my frames custom made. Yes, they are more expensive, but I prefer to make certain they're mounted on acid-free backing and I also use non-glare glass, which really highlights the poster without reflecting everything else in the room, something the Suncoast frames cannot do.

I have yet to see a 27x40 poster frame at any other store than Suncoast. Post prices if you have seen them.

The Suncoast I speak of is located in the Hickory Point Mall in Forsyth Illinois, just outside of Decatur.

If you have an IKEA near you, they sell frames that are supposedly 26x39, but I've never had a problem fitting standard movie posters in them. They run about $20.

I just found two of these frames at my local Walmart (St. Charles, MO). Less than $20 each. Not too shabby.

The amount you should spend on a frame really depends what your framing. Vintage originals or reprints.

I've bought 27X40 frames at AC Moore for about $15...another store i bought from is Michael's Arts and Crafts (dont know if they are national or not), i have found them there on sale for $9 once or twice.
