Two words: ILLYA KURYAKIN
|
So are they ever going to bundle all of the 1960's THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. episodes and put them on DVD?
T.H.R.U.S.H. Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin http://www.allposters.com/IMAGES/77/039_31099.jpg PEACH |
The answer to these two words?

So . . . why no DVD on this campy cult favorite? P.E.A.C.H. |

The U.N.C.L.E. shows were very entertaining. They had good actors and action packed plots. I would buy both series just to see some of the guest stars, such as Boris Karloff.

I'm not "ancient" but am a huge fan of classic TV as most of it is so much better than the programming of this age. I became a fan of this show a couple years ago when reruns aired on TNT, and would buy complete season sets on DVD of this series in a heartbeat!

Heck ya! I loved this show!! I've been wondering about it too...
And yeah, his character was a totally brainy britishy babe. http://www.joodiff.com/images/hero05.jpg |

MGM-UA put out 16 uncut episdoes on LD, 8 to a box set. They were:

Good old "Dr. No," it started everything! |
I also watched many of these when they ran on TNT, albeit time compressed, edited and often airing at 4 A.M. after a basketball game. I preferred the less goofy black and white episodes. I remember one episode that guest starred both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy pre-Trek. Ah, I see its listed above. :)
I'm more of a Napoleon Solo fan myself though not in the way some female fans might be. Robert Vaughn was damn suave. I really wish he'd been given better roles in later years. |
My first crush was on Noel Harrison. I sure hope the series will be released some day.

It's time for this classic to get the deluxe treatment!

I even had a toy spy suitcase with a spy camera built in and a cool spy gun. Definitely looking foward to the DVD release. |

I even had a toy spy suitcase with a spy camera built in and a cool spy gun. Definitely looking foward to the DVD release. That was where my mom broke down and finally grudged to get me my first skateboard: A blue Sears & Roebuck job, about 15" long with metal wheels that could wake the dead. Ka-click, Ka-click, Ka-click, Ka-click . . . I used to go to the top of the block and ride those sidewalks going at the blistering speed of about .01 miles-per-hour LOL. Oh we were demons on our skateboards! My two little boyfriends also had Sears skateboards. Somehow these factored into the very important business of playing Man from U.N.C.L.E. LOL. Being three, one person always had to play the villian, so we would rotate roles. But I always wanted to be Illya. I'll never forget how mortified my mother was when she finally discovered that we were decapitating various limbs from my Barbie dolls and hanging their parts out the window of my 2nd story bedroom. Having failed also with the Barbie Doll Dreamhouse and the Chatty Cathy, she doubtless considered a skateboard the lesser of two vices. The neighbors never forgave her. My skates were even more appalling than the skateboard — hideous strap-on orthopedic-looking metal jobs with metal wheels that you soon realized went approximately at the speed with which your legs drove them (certainly no more). I could stand still on a hill in S.F. (now that's a redundant statement LOL) in those dumb skates and nothing would compel those wheels to go. I used to just walk around with them on LOL. Good old "Dr. No," it started everything! Who caught U.N.C.L.E. the last time it was tossed around? MGM? Warner? It's confusing when you look at the VHS versions of these episodes to see who exactly owns it right now. P.E.A.C.H. |
Originally posted by EPKJ I had that same briefcase complete with the special U.N.C.L.E. gun. That was such a great toy. Geez can you imagine how much these toys would get on EBAY? oh oh . . . No. I won't. P.E.A.C.H. My poor long-suffering credit card. |

I'm waiting for "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E." with Stephanie Powers. A little t&a to boost rating but it didn't help...it didn't help "Batman" with BatGirl!

<=========ancient
I remember this too. I had a spy briefcase that had the gun that could shoot through the little hole in the side. |
