snapper protest!
 

I went into best buy today to purchase the police academy box set as well as some other DVDs, and decided not to purchase the box set because of the snapper cases. I just can't bring myself to purchase anymore cardboard crap. I know there are many people who would ask if WB really cares, but the bottom line is, they're not going to give the custmers what they want unless people quit buying their sruff.

Oh come on...I love that movie. Colm Meany is hilarious!

Well, I guess you'll pass on nearly all TV sets and nearly anything that comes in digipack because they are mostly cardboard and IMO way worse than snappers.

I agree, most tv shows are in horrible packaging, but most of them are more than 2 or 3 discs. with nice keepcases available, there is no reason to put a single disc in cardboard; especially when there are alot of customers complaining about them.

Life is too short to worry about packaging. Just enjoy the movie.

I had to read that post again...just to be sure it said what i thought it said. you didnt buy the films because of the snapper? crazy talk.

I've never had a problem with a snapper and have never had one piss me off to the point where I'll go without the film. they could give me the damn film/dvd all wrapped up in newspaper...and I'll still buy it.

then again...do whatever it is you need to do.

If it really bothers you, buy some blank cases and print the artwork from dvdcoverart.com.

Not buying a movie because of the case is friggin' stupid. There are other ways around it and you can still enjoy your favorite movies.

It's attitudes like that that break down the whole system. I've read posts on this forum where people are complaining about other regions getting better packaging. they get better packaging because the studios know that they could not sale their product without good quality because that is what those consumers demand. when we settle for less than good quality simply because that's what was put on the shelf, then we send the message that it is ok to produce crap because we'll buy it. I personally would like the best product I can get for my hard earned dollars. of course this is just my humble opinion.

I dont consider a snapper...poor quality. if it's the film...I understand. but I will not go without a film in my library because of the pakage. life is way too short.

I buy dvds because of dvds not because the container it comes in

Some of you people with your Holier than thou attitudes need to get over yourself. You say that you would buy the “film” if it was wrapped in newspaper because it’s the disc that counts. That might be so, but would you pay the same price for it?

That’s all a load anyway because you can’t go a day in this forum without somebody complaining about cover art or inserts or packaging, which proves that a lot of collectors want a movie to look nice sitting on their shelf. There is nothing wrong with that unless you’re an elitist movie snob. While I personally wouldn’t pass up a great movie because it’s in a snapper, I’m not about to question people that do. And almost anyone that says packaging hasn’t accounted for some percentage of their collection is a liar.

Hmmm... I'll say this much. My collection consists of over 600 movies on dvd and about 15 boxed-type sets that aren't actual movies. Anyway, the number of movies that are snappers...
about 10. If I'm ever on the fence like "Do I really want or need this dvd?",or "It's a blind buy so I'm not sure?",or "It's rated really high among critics, but do I really want to OWN it?"... "Oh wait it's a snapper. I'll definately pass now!"
Now that I think about it, I wish more movies were in snappers so it could help me have better self control in buying.
Snappers suck!... period.

EDITED TO SAY: Obviously snappers are used so Warner can have a specific niche in the market. (make your own cases, save $) Why can't they make the cases out of some synthetic material that won't decay like cardboard does.
