I don't think you can apply strict definitions of the words embarrassed, regret, discomfort, unease, etc. because then it's just ping-pong'ing semantics. They are all inter-related. You can most definitely feel embarrassed with yourself for having done something you wished you hadn't done, regardless if anyone else knows about it. But call it what you wish, I'm certainly no expert in embarrassment, thank God. I could have easily used the word REGRET in the title of this thread, but I thought EMBARRASSED would provide more honesty and humorous self-deprecation; regret seems like a such SERIOUS and angst-filled way of reflecting. But listen: There is no wrong way or right way to answer the question, so by all means stick with whatever interpretation you wish to apply. Just make sure I'm nowhere near that aisle of the supermarket when your butt decides to mutiny!

The way you explain it makes sense too. We just have a different outlook.

Black Mama, White Mama - Starring Pam Grier. Bought after enjoying Coffy and Foxy Brown, it's half a womans prision movie, half a rip off of The Definant Ones and overall a horrible movie.

Jeepers Creepers - bought previewed, so at least I didn't pay full price, but I found nothing redeeming about this film. Pure trash.

Klute - Not only am I embarrassed I bought this, but I'm embarrassed for the Oscars for accually awarding Jane Fonda a best actress award for this film. Mind you, I'm not one of those who automatically hates Jane Fonda (otherwise I would've skipped this film to begin with) but I didn't care what happened to any of the characters in this aimless film and was wishing it would end long before it did.

Of course, I've got a few more titles that are just as bad, or worse than these three, but they aren't quite as embarrassing to me. Satan's School for Girls, for example, is pretty bad with a HORRIBLE transfer, but at least it's got two of Charlie's Angels in it to somewhat redeem it's place in my collection.

Movies I'm embarrassed I bought....? How about:

Die Another Day
Flatliners
A.I. (sometimes)
The Abyss (single disc, like an idiot!)
Badlands (should've been a rental)
By Brakhage
CLAUDE CHABROL COLLECTION!!!!!
Fatal Attraction (what was I thinking??)
Midnight Express (pal's recomendation, plus Oliver Stone wrote it)
Miller's Crossing (d'oh!)
Nanook of the North (still haven't opened it....)
Outlaw Josey Wales
Patton
Traffik (still haven't opened that, either)

Actaully, a lot of people question why I have Hot Shots! Part Deux, but I just love that movie!

PS - If anyone wants to trade for any of these, just IM me. Thanks.

Again... missing the point...

Hmm. I thought this was a pretty decent Bond picture. Halle Berry is a good Bond girl, and the car chase was outstanding. The swordfight was fairly cool as well.

I own "The World is Not Enough," which is a pretty bad one, mostly because it is Desmond Llewellen's last appearance as Q. And also Sophie Marceau. I would almost buy "Lost and Found" for Sophie. Almost.

I also own "Mission Impossible 2," which is the worst movie I own. I bought it because I liked, and still like, the first one.

A.I. (sometimes)
You're kidding! I love this movie.

Miller's Crossing (d'oh!)
This is a lot of people's favorite Coen film. I think it's pretty good.

Oh, I got the point. I just felt like going through my collection, and offering to trade on top of it.

I[/QUOTE] I watched Sophie Marceau filming a scene from Lost And Found across the street from my house. It was the longest I have ever stood would my mouth open. :-)

Got one more to add from the part of my collection:

It could have been worse, I guess.

Could have ordered the Boxed Set of 1-4 instead of 1-3.

Embarassment is subjective.

So people can be embarrassed of buying a bad movie or even a good one if it sticks out like a sore thumb in their collection.

Back on topic, another film I'm embarrased to own: Embrace of the Vampire.

Caveman. Yeah, the one with Ringo Star of Beatles fame.

I had some fond memories of seeing this movie when I was a kid. Some of it's still funny, but I found I don't like it like I used to. I would actually be embarassed to admit I own it - but at least I only paid like $9 for it.

Mr. N - but Embrace of the Vampire has hot simulated lesbian sex with Alyssa Milano! It's a damn classic!

I'm not embarrassed by any of my DVDs. I only buy stuff that I like, or am certain that I will like, so I don't run into stuff like this.

The only one that I happened to buy and didn't want to keep was Empire (2003) , but it came in a 2 pack with 8 Mile. Sold it back with some other stuff at a pawn shop and haven't looked back.

Hey Scroll2b,

I noticed you are embarrased to have Traffik as part of your collection (I assume you mean the British mini-series, not the 2000 Soderbergh movie?). If you really hate it that much, I'd buy it from you for a reasonable price (or check my trade list).

You know why you bought it.

;-)

And to the guy who hated MANHUNTER. Cmon...that movie was actually pretty good...aside from the bad 80s music.

Brian Cox rules.
