Who bought Brother Bear blind because of Bob & Doug McKenzie?

I can't be the only one who did this. Let's hear it....

(sub question): Who still actually owns the Bob & Doug McKenzie album, Great white North?

I didn't buy Brother Bear, but I do still own the Bob and Doug LP! And the '45: Take Off!

I'm with Exister . . . I don't own Brother Bear, but I do have the Great White North album on LP and CD.

I bought Brother bear for my kids and was pleasantly surprised when I recognized the voices. I started laughing my head off and my kids could not figure out what was so funny.

Bought it for my sons...will watch it (with ocmmentary) because of Bob & Doug.

And yes, I've got GWN on CD & vinyl, and the Strange Brew soundtrack on vonyl.

JuryDuty 04-01-04 12:16 PM

I've got GWN on CD and Strange Brew on DVD, of course. Would love to see them in Brother Bear, but not willing to do a blind buy for it. Maybe a rental.

The Exister 04-01-04 12:40 PM

What's a CD? :hscratch:

shaggy 04-03-04 03:01 AM

I didn't buy it for that reason only, but Strange brew is one of my favorite comedies. The commentary on brother bear is hilarious, I fell of my couch at one point.

So what would be the verdict for someone who:

- Didn't think much of the trailers
- Has no children
- Is only a passive Bob & Doug fan
- Is looking for some nice eye candy with a decent story and kind of likes the idea of the aspect ratio switch?

Tigger 04-03-04 01:26 PM

Josh, pick it up as a rental then. It's a cute flick, but formulated, with some good Phil Collins music, but the Bob & Doug stuff isn't enough. 9.99 or less, grab it.

I would expect that you will enjoy it very much. I thought the commentary was one of the best I have ever heard. For me that was worth the price of owning it. If you are a fan of them at all, there is a lot to enjoy. IMHO of course...

But I will add that I do have children and took them to it, and would have purchased it either way with or without commentary.

I would think that it would make a very good rental for you. The picture and sound are fantastic.

"What, Doug?"

Being a big Bob & Doug fan, I'll eventually pick this up... used!

I took my daughter to see this in the theater, not because she really wanted to, but because I heard Bob and Doug did the voices - Does that count ?

When I mention the movie, the first thing my daughter my daughter remembers about it isn't Koda, or Kenai but
"Tree"

missed the sub question....

I own GWN and the Strange Brew soundtrack on original vinyl.

If they made a SCTV compilation DVD of nothing but Bob and Doug sketches, I'd probably buy that too...

Doc Moonlight 04-04-04 08:49 PM

Out of curiosity, does anyone else own the Bob & Doug action figures that were released by MacFarlane a few years ago?

Rammsteinfan 04-04-04 11:37 PM

They are the only reason that I will watch that movie someday... I had no interest in Brother Bear until I saw them in the commercial. And yes, I have the figures... I love how it had voice chips in it. "Its a jelly!"

fumanstan 04-04-04 11:59 PM

Don't even know who they are.

I bought Brother Bear almost entirely because of Bob & Doug. I never caught it in the theater and while I do like to collect Disney DVDs, if it wasn't for Bob and Doug, this one looked a even little corny for my tastes. Still haven't watched it but I can't wait to check it out and the special audio commentary they do.

Gotta go have some back bacon, eh?

Then why waste your time posting?

DeeKay 04-05-04 09:20 AM

I just ordered Brother Bear for that very reason. I wish they would hurry up with their proposed animated series!!
