Next to the complete Oscar snub of this 1980 classic is the question of why hasn't this Chevy Chase, Jane Seymour & Benji movie been released on dvd yet? This movie is second only to Howard The Duck on my "must finally get to dvd" list. Any other people interested in this canine classic movie coming to dvd. Any chance it'll come out any time soon?

The only word about this movie is that benjimovies.com is trying to get the rights to release it in an "edited, family friendly version."

Fox, who holds the rights to the film, gave verbal consent, but hasn't put it down in writing. Hopefully they refuse and release the film themselves the way it was meant to be seen.

I remember on a Married With Children episode, they rented Oh Heavenly Dog because they only had a Beta machine, and it was the only movie available on Beta.
I actually saw this at a theater, very un-family friendly. That made it all the less boring though.

I am sending them an e-mail, to complain about the "family friendly" editing.
