But Universal lost the sale to me on Scarface for the time being. I want to replace my original Scarface DVD with the horrible transfer, but I want both the 1932 and the 80s version. I will not pay extra for a crap box and money clip though. They need to release the original Scarface separately ASAP.
I paid $37 (could be had for less now) for my Scarface box set when it was first released. The movie was $19.99 everywhere at the time of release. For extra $17 you get another movie and a cool box to keep them in. Yeah, what a rip of. Especially for someone who wants to own both of the movies. In all honesty you're paying a $2-6 of $ extra just for the box. Yeah, that's outrages.

personally I buy dvds for the content on the discs, I could care less about cover art, inserts, what kind of case it comes in, or whether it comes with extra shot glasses, bookends or whatever, besides that stuff just drives the cost of the dvd up

You may occasionally be able to get it for this price, as I believe I read it currently is, but it has pretty normally been going for $40 to $55. I don't want what I consider to be crappy additions, besides the real reason this annoys me is the policy of only making something like the original version available to people who want both. Many people don't want the 80s version and are left with no option, but to be gouged if the want to overpay for the 1932 disc in the aftermarket. So thanks for the dripping sarcasm.

Is someone really gonna shell out the extra cash for some stupid pasties and "Showgirls" shot glasses? Are they really? . . . really?
Well, after reading this thread, I'd day there are a few us who will shell out the xtra moolah for these goofy items! Count me in! I've still got them cool Fargo snowglobes as well!

It will be added to my box set wall of honor!

I totally respect that some people like this extras, and god bless them for it. I just hate when companies limit customers ability to purchase the movie they want by making them exclusive to a set like this. For some reason though, and I will admit my hypocrisy in this, it bothers me less when Blue Underground or someone has an exclusive disc like THe Bloody Judge included in the Christopher Lee set, because I think in these cases the same audience who likes The Bloody Judge will probably like the Lee Fu Manchu films. With Scarface you have many people who would only like one or the other, because of the severe differences in tone, violence, etc. between the films. Oh well, now my rant is over.

Not a bad idea. I hope you can get the Cherry-flavored ones! Yum!

The Scarface giftset is 40% of at amazon right now. With STL it is around $32. Can't complain too much about that price
