I've got a Focke-Wulf 190 model (Monogram, circa 1985) and a metal Civil War field piece cannon on my shelf (among other things), and I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Interest in history isn't political, as such.
Right, and the fact that I was a Democrat for practically my entire life until just recently, prooves that point. I just felt that the Dem Party abandoned what it used to stand for under great ones like FDR and JFK.

Love the collection, Mike (especially all the TNG, DS9 and B5.) I think you're also the only other person I've encountered who has a copy of the Hallmark Odyssey.

Yep, got a space there open for Babylon 5 Season 5 coming out in a few weeks.

Odyssey? Yep, bought that in a boxset along with Jason and the Argonauts and a few others.

And I love the duck.
That's an old "doodad". Had that for nearly 25 years.

Wow... I'm jealous of many of you. Much of my money goes into music production (synths, etc.), but I have been able to devote a part of my budget towards home entertainment:

This is a wide view of my living room. You can also see my 1600+ CD's lining the wall.

These are my DVD shelves that are on the left side of the first pic

My anime collection located on the other side of the room.

Thanks. I bought them from Ikea... it's the Billy Bookcase in Dark Grey Metallic. I just had to buy extra shelves for them.

It's a Sony 46" KP-46WT510. It's just the right size for the room. Anything larger would be a bit too much.

My home theatre/DVD setup is the Panasonic SC-HT900 along with an all-region JVC XV-N70BK DVD player.

There's no such thing as 'a bit too much' IMO

Nice racks. What size are you using right now? Did you have to purchase extra shelves or they come with the right number of shelves for the DVD height? They looks like they are specially designed for DVDs.

What do you mean what size? They're bookshelf size (79.5" H x 31.5" W). They come with 5 shelves and I had to buy 2 additional for each unit ($10 a piece).

On the Ikea website, there are 8 sizes in the drop down box to choose. However, the bookshelf is not available for sale on the website, it says

Btw, did you have to special order the 2 additional shelves or were they readily available at the store?

Based on what I have, I'd say about 50 per shelf--so 400 per unit.

I actually went to the store and physically picked everything up. Ikea's about 45 minutes from my place.

*RG3* . . . I just wanted to let you know that you've inspired me to get some of those Benno shelves. They look really nice in your setup and (after some redecorating) I have some open wall space and a bunch of unshelved DVD's. Every time I look at the wall, I picture three Benno's with boxed sets adorning them.

Thanks for the inspiration! x 2

(P.S. - I'm going with the Beech too . . . great color! )

What color are you selecting, black-brown? Some are avilable under 31.5" x 79.5" and others are under 31" x 80". For finish white, beech veneer and birch veener choose the 31.5" x 79.5" option, for the dark grey metallic or oak veneer choose the 31" x 80" option. Black-brown is the only one not available in those sizes. The true dimensions are the same.

Choose the 31" x 80" option, which is available for order. You'll notice that the measurements, found underneath the size selection, shows that the true dimensions are 31.5" x 79.5".

What's the depth of the Ikea Billy bookcase? The website doesn't say it.
