I used to have a big screen but the convergence went hay wire and it drove me to the brink of insanity so I bought the X1 projector. It works fantastic best money I've ever spent. You wont see any dvd cases because I have them all boxed away in storage considering a 1,000 dvds takes up way to much room for the size of my room. So I keep them all in large dvd/cd books that you see under my books. |
red x's puddytay
and i will try to get mine on here soon. |
Hey I have a question for some of your people. Alot of you have awsome dvd collections, but horrible looking tv set ups? That doesnt make sense to me. I would much rather have a really nice tv then a ton of dvds. Maybe it's size constrainments or something. I was just curious because it makes no sense to me. Before I bought any movies I bought myself a nice tv. I mean if your going to use a tv from the 80's or 90's you might as well be watching vhs because the resolution of the tv isnt going to be good enough for you tell the difference.

Puddytay,
My set up sucks because I'm broke from getting all the DVDs. I plan on getting a nice 43" Sony Plasma and kick ass sound system but it's going to take some time to work up the proper fundage. Until them I'm stuck with my 27" Toshibia flat screen - which I can't complain about too much. |
I agree puddytay.

While I agree as well, I still almost prefer watching my DVDs on my 32" crt Toshiba than on my 57" HDTV. Both have 5.1 set ups, so the sound is generally the same. However, my crt just gives me a clearer picture it seems.
Don't crucify me here, as it's entirely possible there's some setting that's off on my HDTV. I just got it and I haven't had time to really fuss with it. Also, a great deal of my DVDs are cult classics and TV shows, which really don't look all that great on an HDTV. Watching an episode od DBZ on a widescreen HDTV looks like ass compared to what it looks like on my CRT Toshiba. Just my opinion, although I do agree that having 500 DVDs and a 13" black & white TV is absurd. |
Quit making fun of my messy room!

http://www.mbranch.com/tv.jpg http://www.mbranch.com/components.jpg The PCs have dozens of wires going to and from the TV/Components. PC also acts as DVD player, via DVI output from MyHD DVI Daughter-Card. Thus, they are as much a part of the HT as any other component. |

Will take some new pictures then. I thought having a 50 inch tv in my room was crazy but puddytay you have a projection. Thats insane man. How old are you? |
I'm 20 going on 21. I used to have a 56' panasonic hdtv and will never buy another tv ever again. This projector and set up only cost me about 1,100 dollars. It was worth it and I recommend everyone else doing the same.

But if you don't have the money, you don't have the money. Just start with a nice HT fund and let it grow until you have some money for the setup. And that is a crazy HT setup for the bedroom man. Must be comfortable as hell :D Originally posted by QuiGonJosh Well...I've tried bigger and supposedly better TV's...and just dont get it...I've had 40inch HDTV Widescreen TV and a 30inch HDTV Widescreen TV...and just didnt like it...I just prefer to watch movies on my 32inch Toshiba...thats running on 8 years old and looks just has good as the day I bought it...if I ever get a new TV...its gonna be a 32' HDTV 4:3...and with a curved screen... |
Here's my setup:
http://riggs.tamu.edu/images/dvdtalk/ht_setup.jpg Each side can hold about 150 DVDs. My wife likes the design because it hides all the DVDs and they don't get as dusty. |
I always thought once you go flat you'll never go back, but I could be wrong. Maybe you just need to see some HD material on that HDTV. Personally, I'll never settle for a curved screen or any screen/TV less than 50". |
hey Colader, what model set/size is your set? |
Yeah, very nice setup steebo. I wanna go to projectGazeebo Film Fest 2004! ;)
Also, I wanted to mention Commander Dan from Part 3 pg. 19 has a nice TV & house. Didn't see surround sound though. I will post my setup between today & Sunday.....hopefully. :) |
*RG3*, I was curious where you picked up that card catalog type storage system. I'm assuming a library sale after everything went the way of the computer, but any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

It depends on how ugly that chick was. I would rather not have sex at all if the girl wasn't attractive.

Puddytay is all that in your bedroom?! I'ld never get out of bed and go to work if I had that.
