LOTR: EE's...Meaning of colors?
I know that the books colors had a meaning.
FOTR - Green - The Shire basically... TTT - Blue - Helm's Deep ROTK - Red - Mount Doom So....TTT and ROTK are backwards for the DVD EE's cases...Anyone know why they did this or did they just pick colors for no real reason at all? Don't know why ROTK is blue...although blue is my favorite color. =p Thanks.. |
ROTK is blue basically because blue is a very flattering color.
TTT was red because of the amount of bloodshed in the battle at Helms Deep. FOTR was green because green is the color of Frodo's eyes. The Hobbit EE is going to be in Yellow, why? I don't know. |
aslong as it has a damn insert!

ROTK is blue because blue is a royal color. Hence, ROYAL BLUE.
TTT is red because of the blood spilled at Helms deep. FOTR is green because green seemed like a good starting point. Also, there are four discs in each set because four times three (which is how many movies there are) equals 12 and if you add that to how many times Frodo is seen having a near orgasm while being stabbed (three) is 15. Then, the number of lembas bread pippen eats is added, making 19. When you take away how many books this trilogy was written as, you get 18. And as we all know, in Jewish Gematria the number 18 is significant because it is the number representing life. groovrbaby (is still wondering why he posted in this thread) |
I figure the green is a color of beginnings, red is war, and blue is royalty (the king).

Wow, I never knew what the colors meant. That's kind of neat.
|
It's gonna be pretty sweet having all three EE's sitting next to each other.
|
Or...
the colors was drawn from a hat at a New Line christmas party... |

Some of these suggestions make sense, some of these are rediculous. Green because it was the color of Frodo's eyes? Riiiight. Peter Jackson may have chosen the colors, maybe New Line did. So maybe there is a 'color theme' for each movie to represent it, but perhaps not. The main thing is that we have three very good looking Extended Edition sets that look wonderful. If in fact they chose green for the shire, red for bloodshed, and blue for royalty, that's great. If they didn't, it's all just a coincidence. Bottom line is the movies themselves are great and we've got 'em! :) Who really cares about the color of the packaging and why it was chosen, it is what it is and it works great :)

Don't the colors just match the covers of the most famous printing of the books or something?

The covers match the color of the toy cards too...

I'm still waiting for the ultimate limited edition when all 3 extended type editions will be in a black leather type casing with gold lettering just like the books.

Blue is also considered a color of royalty. And Frodo's eyes were definitely a very piercing blue, not green. I know this because I commented in every movie, "I think those are the bluest eyes I've ever seen."

How can people say red for TTT because of all the blood spilled at Helms Deep. Wasnt even more blood spilled at Minas?
