Thunderbirds Are Go!
According to The Rumor Mill at Digital Bits, both Thunderbirds Are Go! and Thunderbird 6 are on line for release from MGM this summer to coincide with the release of the new live-action Thunderbirds film. This will finally allow me to complete my Thunderbirds DVD collection.

i'm rather worry with MGM titles... they might put 'em in their "bargain priced" cataloges... whcih to say the leat, most of the time rather not good.
now, if they put 'em in their SE line.... life would be beautiful |

I could have sworn a few years back Thunderbirds are Go was released on DVD.

I hope that the new Thunderbirds movie isn't as bad as I think it will be. Somehow, live action directed by Jonathan Frakes worries me.

Very Cool! Both films have Commentaries and featurettes, and even a cardboard rocket in the two pack set. All for under $15/each or $30 for the double movies set (retail.) I can't wait.

We've reviewed the Thunderbirds International Rescue Gift Set (which includes both Thunderbirds Are Go! and Thunderbird 6) here.
Snippet: The big screen outings for the Thunderbirds are mixed affairs. While grand in scope and design, the storylines and pacing fail to really take advantage of the medium, and wouldn't feel out of place edited down and shown as a regular TV episode. Despite that, it's Thunderbirds, and any Thunderbirds is well worth watching. The extras included here are also mixed. The commentaries and featurettes are all very interesting and informative, but the rest are pretty naff fillers. It's a shame we don't get to see a more in depth look behind the scenes, with on set footage and so on, but back then, who knew that something like DVD would be around to document the whole filmmaking process. As it is, we are at least treated to new interviews with those who were there, so it's hard to complain too much. |
It'll be interesting to see. I watch these movie when I was a kid and enjoyed it a lot.

I got mine last week at BB and watched Thunderbirds Are Go this weekend. The films really are pretty dull, but the whole Supermarionation thing makes up for it. The extras aren't half bad, but I really did want to see more behind the scenes footage. I'm not sure I can accurately describe the appeal of these, but if you loved them as a kid, at least rent them if you can.
I'm glad I bought the set - the only real problem is resisting punching out the paper Thunderbirds and fridge magnets included in the box set! |

So far everything ive seen about it seems bad (it looks more like a Spy Kids wannabe). Lets hope its just down to poor trailer editing and not a reflection on the final film. |
