there is a god, Showgirls VIP edition scheduled for summer 2004!

from thedigitalbits.com
"We're also told that a Showgirls: VIP Edition is in the cooker for summer release with tons of... shall we say fascinating... extras (and a new anamorphic widescreen transfer)."

yes the movie is horridly bad, but I'd buy this in a heartbeat. so many bad one liner's and horrible acting from Elizabeth Berkely (as well as the pool scene), its comedy gold.

I've never seen this. How's the camp value? Is it actually rewatchable?

Never would have guessed a re-release of this. I, unfortunately, saw this and will never ever ever see it again. Give me Gigli: Extreme Edition over this any day of the week.

Oh hell yeah. This is one of my favorite bad movies EVER. EVER. I will buy this in a heartbeat. Double dipping for this for sure.

Well, I ordered the fullbit DTS edition from Korea for 14 bucks...I'll be happy with that! Seriously doubt they'll have DTS on the R1.

And just for the record, I enjoyed Gigli!

The movie was voted as of the top 50 cult movies ever made, so there's definitely some legitimacy to this movie as opposed to say Good Burger.

hmm, I really didn't think that sound was the important aspect of this movie ..........

(ok, the music in the dance numbers is good, and should have a nice DTS treatment ...)

Immensely rewatchable - no matter how many times you watch it, you still can't believe what you're seeing and hearing. This one probably has more howlers than any other movie I can think of. In a way, this one defines "camp value"!

I watch Showgirls at least once every couple weeks or so. The lack of extras, and more particularly, lack of an anamorphic transfer has always bothered me. So yeah, I'll be picking this one up.

It is a terrible, terrible movie; but I can't turn away.

I too have never seen it, but from all the references it's had over the years, this will probably be a must-buy for me.

My Paul Verhoeven collection isn't complete without this, since I held out for this, because Paul has recorded commentaries for all of his other DVDs, and the transfer was non-anamorphic. MGM's SEs of catalog titles are always good and come in nice-looking slipcases, so this should be a great release.

Maybe someone will film some '"real" lap dancing for a major flick. Might be more interesting.

This movie is bad, but I have seen much worse. I'll probably get this new version if the extras are good since I already have the current R1 release.

So have I. Yesterday I saw Simone. Makes Showgirls look like a masterpiece.

My friend's quote sums up my feelings perfectly.

"Any movie where I can actually get bored of staring at Gina Gershon's breasts HAS to be terrible."

"It's must be weird not having guys c*m on you."

With dialogue that sterling, how did this movie not win a screenwriting Oscar? There's just no justice in the world, I tell ya.
