They are going to give Elizabeth Berkely CGI breasts? Because she has none to begin with.

But the pool scene is a classic.

And just for the record, I enjoyed Gigli!
Isn't the Korean version censored?
I thought Korea always censor below the waist nudity (with the exception of Malena DVD w/ Eng sub on)...

No less an authority than John Waters loves this flick. I've been tempted by the low price of the current release on many occasions, but now -- with a host of extras... Yup, I want it.

The only redeeming asset this movie has is the abundance of TFN & I can get that on the Internet.

Seriously the worst movie I've ever seen.

Ok, maybe Batman and Robin was worse. Now that I think of it at least Showgirls had naked women.

Seriously the second worst movie I've ever seen.

Will Verhoeven do a commentary? If so I might pick this up.

What I hope this DVD will do is have a documentary bit about how bad the movie is and more or less acknowledge that it is wretched and a screw up by all involved. At least to an extent.

You know, it figures this would be announced literally the day after I just bought the barebones release for $9.99.

I don't think I've ever been as excited for a re-release Special Edition DVD than I am now!!! Showgirls is the BEST Bad movie of all time; every moment is a gem of atrocious dialouge and acting...yeah, it may be one of the worst films ever, but it's also one of the most entertaining ( Well, at least for Gay men, as well as Straight Lovers of Camp..you know who you are )
I still think this movie holds the record for the most Razzie Nominations ever for a movie (13!) Paul Verhoeven will always get props in my book though, as he actually Accepted his Razzie Award for Worst Director in 1996. Now THAT'S Class..

Here are my Dream Special Features for this DVD:

Commentary with "fans" ( John Waters, RuPaul, and Margaret Cho maybe?) as they tear this movie a new one, MST3K style. This is my ideal line up for a commentary...although an apologetic, ashamed commentary by the director and maybe Joe Esterhas might be pretty damn funnny.

A Documentary on the whole Showgirls Phenomenon; I remember several years ago there were Midnight screenings in Hollywood with people dressed up in costumes and what not, Rocky Horror style. Some of this footage actually made it to the Entertainment news shows, so we know footage exists. Maybe show Verhoeven's Razzie acceptance speech too!

Digital Bras: A shot by shot comparison of all the VH1 re-done sequences (many which are howlingly worse than the actual original film!) That would be great.

I really Hope MGM embraces the whole Camp aspect of this movie and doesn't try to release this as a "legit" release...I mean, c'mon..it's SHOWGIRLS.

Showgirls is a great film. One of the 10 best films of 1995 in my opinion. A great satire about american culture. Sure it has bad dialogue, but that probably is the point.
No one does excess better than verhoeven.

I am very excited about this release.

related note: from the thread elsewhere on this forum ... there is MORE nudity in the full-screen version of the film (especially when Berkley bends down in a certain scene). So, I want a SE DVD with both anamorphic wide-screen and full-screen versions

Along has it has an anamorphic transfer, "jump to a nude scene" selections, and more nudity; I'll buy it.

I'm actually one of the few that saw this movie in the theater. I don't know if I need to own it though.

I would have loved to been at those Rocky Horroresque midnight screenings. What fun that must have been!

Anyway the movie is entertaining,a terrific camp classic satire & therefore is not a 'bad' movie at all.

If you actually expected a 'serious' film from this the first time. The only person missing the joke,is you..& everyone who rips this apart as the 'worst' movie ever made. There are far more deserving films out there than this...go seek them out to see what truely godawaful boring bad films are out there!

So yes,I am all over this release. It better be a camped up SE & not a 'serious' SE release. Since that would be disappointing & no fun at all.

Still a 16.9 transfer will be great in my eyes. Can watch it on my WS notbook PC now..unlike my current dvd of the film

Yes, it is blocked in two spots. I had the Japanese release and this is the same version. However, this is a two disc set (anamorphic & DTS on one and letterbox 5.1 on the other).

I am getting this ONLY for the DTS which is really fantastic.

is the so called bending over scene in the full frame version only on the NC-17 cut or is it in the R rated version also.
