Does March looks slow or is it just me?

I was checking on release dates, and it looks like March is going to be pretty light on "must haves." I know that there are many titles people have probably been waiting for in the mix, but there doesn't seem to be one really big title all month.

Even with "Schindler's List" I can't imagine JSP going into their Best Buy or Wal-Mart and saying "finally, 'Schindler's List' is going to be mine!"

The one's I'm looking forward to are...

3/2/04
Curdled

3/9/04
Dawn of the Dead (Special Edition)
Schindler's List (Collector's Edition)

3/16/04
nothing from the new release list...
I'd like to see 21 Grams before deciding to buy

3/23/04
I heard The Singing Detective was good, I'll watch before deciding.

3/30/04
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Special Edition)

So yeah, it's kind of slow. I have to save some cash anyway. But there are other releases that I'm not getting that I'm sure some will be interested in...

Starsky & Hutch: The Complete First Season (5-DVD Set)
Croupier (I might pick this up)
Futurama: Vol. Three (4-DVD Set)
Mona Lisa Smile
... holy shit they actually made a Skulls III? They're really bleeding that franchise...
Undefeated
The Cat in the Hat (Widescreen)
The Commitments (2-Disc Collector's Edition)
Veronica Guerin
Beyond Borders
Gothika (Widescreen)
The Rundown (Widescreen)
Brother Bear (2-Disc Special Edition)
C.S.I.: The Complete Third Season (6-DVD Set)
Homicide Life in the Streets: Season Four (6-DVD Set)
Something's Gotta Give

So I geuss it's all a matter of likes & dislikes.

Last couple of months have been kind of slow IMHO. I'm already tapped out for things I'm interested in in Feb and for March a good portion of them are replacements/upgrades

Ten Commandments
Commitments
Panic Room

Osterman Weekend, The House of Sand and Fog and a couple more of the Acornmedia mysteries (Poirot #8) are the only really new ones on my list.

This movie was terrible if I recall correctly.

DVDHO 02-15-04 12:40 PM

Dawn of the Dead is as big as you can get IMO,plus with Shindlers List and the wave of TV shows coming I think its a pretty good month,im no J6P so I could careless what they want or think.

cross 02-15-04 12:41 PM

Yeah, its slow but its not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm just planning for CSI season 3 and Futurama vol. 3 and with their price tags, its kinda nice that I get to save up for it =)

D-Ball 02-15-04 12:56 PM

Doesn't look slow to me. There's a lot catalog titles with new editions or being released for the first time, several tv series (Futurama, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, CSI) and there are several new releases that I expect to do well ( School of Rock, Rundown, Mona Lisa Smile).

Looks like all I'll be getting in March is Futurama: Season 3 and The Rundown.

Btw, I wouldn't run out and buy that Dawn of the Dead disc, considering Anchor Bay is releasing a big multi-disc SE later this year.

ProjectMayhem 02-15-04 01:15 PM

Looks pretty good to me.

No way will I wait. I buy both versions of LOTR so there's no way in hell I'll miss out on both releases of Dawn of the Dead. If the multi-disc set contains the same features as the initial release I'll just give it to a friend.

I'm more than happy to share some zombies :)

March looks pretty good to me:

3/2
American Dream
The Chaplin Collection, Volume 2
Melvin and Howard
Peyton Place

3/9
Croupier
Dawn of the Dead
On Guard!
The Ten Commandments

3/16
Demonlover
The Endless Summer Collection

3/23
Dirty Pretty Things
The Magdalene Sisters
Shattered Glass
Sherman’s March
Songs from the Second Floor

3/30
The Late Show
Prisoner of Second Avenue

Jason 02-15-04 01:32 PM

March will see Futurama Volume 3 and Godzilla v. Mechagodzilla (2003). Sounds like a good month to me.

UKingdom 02-15-04 01:56 PM

I think in general Feb and March this year are pretty crummy with the exception or maybe 1 or 2 titles...there are no real "big" releases, other than Schindler's List, but things will pick up in April. We all should be spending less anyways.

NaturalMystic79 02-15-04 02:03 PM

Schindler's List and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are well worth it for me!

"We" should?

RobCA 02-15-04 02:08 PM

March is kinda light for me, which is good; I can save up for April, May and June.

03/02: Peyton Place
03/09: Futurama: Volume 3 • Myra Breckenridge
03/16: Cat in the Hat • Girls Will Be Girls • Married with Children: Season 2
03/23: The M.O. of M.I. • Will & Grace: Season 2
03/30: Barbra Streisand: The Concert (Live at the MGM Grand)

Dr. DVD 02-15-04 02:15 PM

Wasn't the SE of Good,Bad, and the Ugly coming out on the 9th of March as well?

Static Cling 02-15-04 02:16 PM

This is turning into another "What are you going to buy?" thread, which we'll have every week in March. Closing.
