Will the Unrated Battle Royale II r3 play on R1?

I have noticed that a couple of R3 discs are actually R0, and work on R1 players. I was wondering if anyone has Battle Royale II R3, and if it is actually a R0???
Thanks in advance.

A lot of those R3 DVDs that can play in R1 players are encoded for R0. These are mostly films directly made in Hong Kong.

Like most other Japanese films released in HK on DVD, Battle Royale II is encoded for R3.

At the cost of $16.00 U.S. dollars, the 2 disc R3 of Battle Royale 2 is a steal.... What are you waiting for?Go buy an all region player!

I must say.. lower your expectations for BR II if you are all hyped about it based off the first one. It doesn't live for the hype and it's very surprising how anti-american it is.

Talk about a lot of political agendas mixed in it.

in either case, It's worth watching so go for it. enjoy it for what it is.

$16 is a good price for a two-disc release w/ DTS sound, but I'm guessing that's the price from an import house like HKflix, because it can be had even more cheaply purchasing from an overseas etailer. I paid $12.49 with free shipping from yesasia, and I wouldn't be surprised to find it elsewhere for under $10 (add shipping).

Places like DDDHouse and DVDShelf have it for around $8 (and then add shipping).

The region-free DVD player I have is a Cyberhome CH-500. It's a progressive-scan player along with converting PAL -> NTSC, and it only costs me $70 at Fry's. I've had no problems with it so far since I bought it in October.

Try the International Forum here. They have a lot of topics on region-free players. One player a lot of people are raving about is the Philips 727. Evidently the main problem with it is when you play a movie that offers multi-angle function, that icon will appear throughout the entire movie. Other then that, for the price it can't be beat. It plays everything plus it is only about $71 with STL from Amazon.
