Star Trek Shortage?

Ordered The Undiscovered Country from Amazon as someone sent STL and I figured why not? Peeved it hadn't shipped yet I went checking and it says ships in 2 or 3 weeks. WTF?? Checking further, DDD also backordered. This was released this week....right?

Got mine at Walmart for $14.36 when it came out on Tuesday. No hassles and no wait.

This happened to me with Wrath of Khan. You figure it's going to be everywhere and then for some reason it's hard to find. Beats me what the explanation is, but more copies showed up fairly quickly. Maybe Paramount underproduces to hedge in case demand is not as high as they expect.

I noticed this yesterday when I went to check why my order hadn't shipped yet. Lucky me I ordered Trek VI and Open Range in the same order from Amazon and they are both listed as shipping in 2-3 weeks...

I dropped by FutureShop after work on release day and picked up their last copy ($13.99). For all the other Trek titles on or near their respective release day, I recall seeing several stacks of DVDs.

Has there ever been a shortage of Star Trek? Anywhere?

The white case bugged me too much. So, since I didn't open the seal, I simply retured it to a B&M for a black case one.

I too had troubles finding it.

I looked for it at Walmart when I picked up Alice in Wonderland, and they did not have any. So, I took the Best Buy ad to Circuit City, so get it for a bit cheaper than $14.99, and they did not have any either. I didn't want to hit up Best Buy too, so I just decided that I would pass for now and pick it up as an enrollment at Columbia House in a few months, just like I did with Star Trek III and IV reissues.

My local Best Buy was sold out. So I went to Media Play (payed $3 more, but what the hell...) where they had only two copies. They had the ones in the black box though...so that was good news!

I saw alot at the stores on the first day but after going out shopping today, BB had NONE, Fry's had 2 copies, Target had NONE, and CC had a few. Doesnt seem like a lot out there or it is really hot and everyone is getting a copy.

When I went to get this at Best Buy I couldn't find any. Then when I was looking through their TV on DVD section there was ONE copy hidden behind the Babylon 5 box sets.

I went back yesterday and they STILL didn't have any more.

They had LOTS of ST: V SE, though!

Pre-ordered from Amazon and it indicates ships in 4-5 weeks now, but shipping estimate is Feb 2nd? Definitely appears that not enough copies were sent from the distributor, but I can wait. Nice price.

Because no one likes V !

IMO 1 is the worst, 5 being the second worst
