The Great Escape SE: May 25

Here are the details and cover art.

http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?...3146&n=1&burl=

Another classic SE from MGM. Could have had a better cover art but this is a must have for McQueen fans.

I think the cover could've been done a little bit better too... but at least it's not the Big Head cover that the first release was.

Otherwise all hell would break loose on the forum

Pretty much identical to the R2 MGM SE. 'Twas only a matter of time, I guess.

Finally! Been waiting for this since the R2 came out.

Like the cover except I wish they used a pic with his mouth closed. It looks freaky with his mouth open.

Sweet! The original release has been so tempting because of it's price, but I always put off buying it because I could borrow it if I got the urge to view it.

I actually like the cover.

Good stuff!

This will be a blind buy for me. Only SM film I own is Blob CC, so this one will be a treasure.

Any R2'ers have you heard the commentary? Who's on it?

I doubt it could compare to the Criterion Laserdisc which had Sturges.

Is this the first one with a 5.1 mix or did the other release have it?

Vegas Mike, you're kidding me, right? You'll love it. Also get Sand Peebles, Papillon, Bullitt, & Le Mans if you like SM. Along with The Great Escape, his finest works IMHO.

Cheers

I wish I wasn't! I will definately look into the others. I totally forgot that I actually do have one other SM film: The Towering Inferno (a personal fav actually).

Papillon is one of my all time favs....and in bad need of some better treatment, like a fat, 2disc SE.

sadly, this one is right in the middle of some very disturbing rights issues. it may be a very long time.

From the $5.50 bin at WM to political turmoil.

Oh, the roller coaster life of a DVD.....
