I had a problem with a copy of Predator DTS. I had the disk for a year and never played it. When I did finally play it, it had a defect/lockups in a chapter. I called Fox and got them to replace it. They told me to send it to them with a description of the problem. It took a looooooonnnnngggg time - I think it was 8 weeks or longer - but I eventually got new copy without any defects.

I had the same problem with the disk freezing up, skipping sections & picture becoming pixelated right around the part where they discuss trapping the alien in the air ducts and getting the flamethrowers ready.

I exchanged it al Wal-mart, took it home & now it works great.

I need to also add that Disk #1 had been scratched in the package due to coming loose during transport. It was scratched on the outer edge where this scene would be located. My player (an old Toshiba 3109 I bought in 1999) usually plays everything without a hitch so maybe the scratches exacerbated the problem.

I recently found out Denon has new firmware to correct the Alien freeze up problem for owners of 2200 and 2900 model DVD players. More information on how to obtain the firmware can be found at the AVS Forum.

The Void

I installed the firmware update on my Denon 2200 and the Alien set now plays perfectly. to Denon for fixing it.

I got the firmware update by email the day after I requested it, then received a CD they overnighted to me the next day.

Same issue happened witb me back in December. I returned my 3rd Alien Quad set and opted to buy the individual releases. No problems whatsoever with them, and I'm happy I did it.
