In 30 years we will go through a few more media formats and I expect that atleast one or two of those will not get the originals, but infact they will be getting the super special advanced editions where the actors will be replaced by monkies digitally to please our supreme ape overlords who by 2015 will have enslaved us. I for one welcome them and the coming changes to the holy trilogy as I grasp my original thx mastered LD's in the slave pits which they will have to indeed, pry from my cold dead hands.

Well, guess it's time to get serious about converting my laserdiscs to DVD.

DVD Soon has a 6-Disc Collector's Set of Star Wars (OT) up for Pre-Order (NINE months in advance!).
According to this, it's coming October 19, 2004. .........

Well, that is a Tuesday...
And I do find it odd that they specifically list the packaging like that:
Type of packaging : Custom Case with Gift
I wonder if the six discs would be 2 disc SEs of the OT with the movie on one and extras on the other - or - two barebones movie discs of each episode, original and SE versions. If he's doing an "Ultimate" edition down the road, this might make sense.
Oh well, it's fun speculating

Oh, man, forget about extras. Having both versions of each film in a high-quality 16:9 transfer would be extra enough for me.
