You can find a detailed look at the superb menu system for Panic Room SE here. You can expect a full, detailed comparison review for this set by early next week.

Those are the coolest menus I've ever seen.

I like how you can see other screen's choices in the background as you look at different perspectives of the 3D house. So cool.

Offhand, did you notice the transfer quality? Is it the same transfer as the Superbit?

I figured there wouldn't be DTS, what with all the commentary tracks.

I pre-ordered this today from amazon for $25.16. Glad I did, this sounds like a great set.

Those are certainly some creative and extensive menus.

I preordered from Amazon and I'm very excited. I can't wait to go over every feature and extra on this set.

Cool menus but how long will it take to load. Doesn't really matter though. Can't wait for the review.

Check the very first post in this thread, just black with red lettering. Very minimal.

He might be referring to how it looks when it's open... but I could be wrong

Yeah, it's a 3-disc set - so how does it come? Keepcase? Digi? Hrm?

I think it's a digipack, very much like the 3-disc SE version of Black Hawk Down.

YES! Criterion apparently still has rights (or so a few people on the Criterion Forum say) but apparently no Criterion is in the works. I would love an SE or CC or any kind of treatment for The Game.

The Game: SE is one of my "holy grail" titles, regardless of who puts it out - as long as the Davids (Fincher and Prior) put it out, I don't care whose name is on the label.

The set is indeed a gatefold digipack, but instead of the discs being housed on plastic stuck to the card they are in a 3xplastic pages stucj to the spine, kind of like a book.

Our full review of the set can be found here.

So, the SE has a very slightly darker look to it than the Superbit --- but everything else seems to be the same? Has any of the video noise that was on the SB been removed?

Since I'm not really into extras, my Superbit version is here to stay.

Yah...and what sticks out? The reviewer uses it to go on a mini-rant about the differences between DD and DTS. Inappropriate if you ask me.

The lack of a DTS track, frankly, is meaningless. People get so worked up when a top-tier DVD lacks DTS. On forums like this one, you might see cries of, "No DTS?!? You gotta be kidding! I’ll pass." In most cases, such remarks spring from disinformation. On most thoughtfully produced discs that contain both Dolby and DTS mixes, the differences are minor, even on high-end setups, and even to trained ears.

The word is "inappropriate" and I don't think it was, in the context of the review.

He reviewed the DD track and spent a lot more time talking about the audio than need be, but you can always skip reading about something that doesn't interest you thanks to those helpful sub-headings.

I, for one, appreciate the depth and thoroughness of Jason's review.

I guess whether or not you want to buy the disc or upgrade really depends on how much you liked the movie; after reading the reviews, I was surprised how "technical" the extras are, and while they may lend insight to the filmmaking process, they don't really seem that appealing to me in terms of watching 2 extra discs just on filming techniques. It's certainly a must own disc for film students.
