F For Fake Criterion?

I don't know if anyone's heard about this, but Janus Films/Criterion is presenting a screening of Orson Welles' F For Fake at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as part of their Welles tribute. Looks quite promising. I'd love to see this released by Criterion.

Here's a link to the schedule with info on the screening <a href=http://americancinematheque.com/archive1999/2004/orsonwelles.htm>http://americancinematheque.com/arch...rsonwelles.htm</a>

And to think I thought this would be another thread about Criterion bootlegs.

I was thinking the same thing...i thought maybe some bootlegger screwed up and printed CRIFERION on the coverart or something.

I sure hope this gets a release. I've been wanting to see it for years. That page also mentions "Brand New 35mm Print"

I'd also love to see FILMING 'THE TRIAL', FILMING 'OTHELLO', and THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH television pilot he made.

Great post. Very clever disguise. Nontheless, F for Fake would be a good Criterion...

This news is great. Thank you. I missed out on the recent Egyptian Theater's 3D film fest but I won't miss this one!

Just FYI... Criterion releaed this on laserdisc. So a DVD is definitely not out of the question (assuming they have the DVD distribution rights).

I'd just like to see F for Fake on DVD, Criterion or not. (My VHS copy off IFC is in "deep storage.")

I suppose a release by them under their Home Vision label is also a possibility.

F FOR FAKE has long been rumored as a likely Criterion title, and Jon Mulvaney of the CC has stated the company plans to release "some Welles" in 2004.
