Life Is Beautiful Question

I have a question about the Miramax Region 1 DVD release of Life Is Beautiful, which I am considering picking up. I am aware that the DVD is a non-anamorphic widescreen release. Seeing as my TV is widescreen, I would end up watching the film in a zoom mode, in order to fill my screen. So, here is the question. Would the sub-titles for the film be lost in the black bars that I have zoomed out of the picture? Or are the sub-titles placed within the picture itself, thus allowing me to still see them? Does anybody out there in a similar situation as myself who owns the DVD know the answer to this question? Thanks alot...

well.....it is your choice but I would not "fill up" the screen. This should distort the image (if I understand correctly what you intend to do).

The subs are placed below the image frame!!

Using a zoom mode to fill up the screen w/ a non-anamorphic widescreen DVD in no way distorts the image.

Are you saying that you are certain that the sub-titles in Life Is Beautiful are placed below the picture frame, in the black bars?

I just checked my copy. The subtitles are not placed in the black bar under the picture. They are over the movie.
